How so very expected and inevitable! It figures that one of the people who is high up on the top of the short-list of Vice Presidential Candidates
of John McCain's Campaign turns out to be just another Confederate-Flag waving racist and bigot.

I guess after all, what else are we to expect from John "The Manchurian Candidate" McCain? Better known as the pilot who couldn't fly straight to save his ass and crashed TWO airplanes due to pilot-error and "got off" just because his pop was a Navy Admiral and pulled-some-strings at the Pentagon to get his son removed from the "permanently grounded" list. Of course this didn't help little Johnnie when he made pilot error #3 and got his ass shot down over Vietnam and earned a stay at the Hanoi-Hilton as a result.

So this is the guy the Repugs and Karl Rove and Phill Grahmm want as President along with the Bigot from SC as VP?? Good glub the GOP must really be BRAIN DEAD to try and pull this one on us! Where have they been the past 8 Years of the Bush Administration?? They really must want the white xian bigot trailer trash vote to field these 2 knuckleheads!

I don't get the issue with a flag. For some it is a symbol or hate for others it is a symbol of southern pride. Pride not in the racial history but being a tuff and rugged bunch that tamed the land and climate. Do we remove all symbols that have some negative view? That would mean that we would no longer have any symbols. I take it Julie that you do not like John McCain. In stead of attacking him personally why don't you attack his political record since that is what will be affecting us all.

All true Americans have long left the GOP.
It is filled now with:
racists,
theocrats,
plutocrats,
the insane.

All present Republicans are one or more of these four varieties.

I can see were most people see it as that. But I have a couple of black friends that have the same flag on their trucks. But they also ride horse and have a farm. So they are not the norm. Either way back to the flag as a symbol. Do we destroy all symbols or items that illicit anger, pain, hate in one group but pride in another. And no I don't mean racist. I have my own oppinion of racist and its not pretty.

The modern Japanese is completely ignorant of his past. The Japanese government has fed them lies and pablum; and they have no idea of the brutal, unhuman, evil savagery of their grandfathers.

You won't see me defending the Jap battle flag, but remember, because of Gen. McArthur, Japan itself stands for something completely different than your correct reference.

This flag of the force that tried to tear this country asunder is highly unpatriotic and was popularly resurrected from a long dormant state in immediate response to the emergence of the civil rights movement.

I am aware of the flags history. I personnally believe that majority that do use the flag use it as a way to divide. However, I still question its removable due to the issue that all symbols could be removed due to some violent history. Think of the crusade and the cross. The list can go on.

Refigious symbols are already not to be endorsed by government....that's what this is...an endorsement by government of a racist insurrection.

This statement is either made in total ignorance or Propaganda.
Modern Japanese do not have a blank spot in their history. They are fully aware of their expansionist history in the 30's and 40's I've even seen where you revisionists claimed that America dropped the Bomb on Japan for no reason.
If all those brave Americans that died in that war could have had a future vision that their decendants would turn out to be a bunch of limp wristed left wing puppets they would be very disappointed.

It did. But this is about what statement of support South Carolina offers those who sought to secede from the Union or those supporting racial separatism by "honoring" that symbol.

Okay I can see why it would be good for South Carolina to change its flag. It would show a change in time to no long support racial attitudes.
