Televangelist Kenneth Copeland's request for an IRS audit is being called a "clever and deceptive" move.

Hmmm, what happened to the ACLU? Separation of church and state? Hello?? Why should the government be nosing around in the churches business? I don't really care for any of those ministries but fair is fair. You want churches to stay out of government? Then the government (AND IRS) should stay out of the churches business.

1 A person of integrity would be forthright and completely transparent concerning monies given in faith... that the minister would do the right thing insofar as Christ is concerned. It's sickening the lavish amounts of money being squandered by these charlatans. It's also sickening that the world has to view such blatant compromise...Jesus explained how the world would know a christian, in their love for one another. Such genuine love would not think more HIGHLY of oneself than it ought to. While Copeland lives HIGH on the hog, there are many suffering people who could genuinely benefit from the charitable contributions being given. His love for himself and his hatred for God's people is apparent. Charity is a giving of oneself for the benefit of OTHERS, not yourself. These so called(prosperity gospel) ministries which claim the title of "charity" are liars and thieves because the benefits are very clearly going to themselves. They have NO RIGHT to claim themselves as charities. |

I think an IRS audit of all should be had. But, I am confused why the congress is investigating them if the IRS still finds them without flaw with how the money is spent?

1 You don't think televangelists buying Bentleys and buying private jets is money ill spent? You find nothing wrong with that? These crooks take poor, susceptible people's money and live lavishly and you find nothing wrong with that? You find nothing wrong with Paula White buying TD Jakes a Bentley for his birthday? You find nothing wrong with Creflo Dollar raising 1 million dollars to give to Kenneth Copeland for his birthday? You find nothing wrong with Creflo Dollar saying that if Jesus were alive today, he would be riding a Rolls Royce? You find nothing wrong with Jesse Duplantis saying Jesus was a rich man with 12 employees and Judas as his accountant? You find nothing wrong with Joyce Meyer spending $12,000 on a toilet? You find nothing wrong with JOyce Meyer openly admitting she never wears the same clothes twice? If you don't think that's spending taxless income recklessly, then you are obviously in bed with these televangelists. |

Just a few years ago, a dozen eggs cost about 99 cents. Now, they’re about $2.49.
Just a few years ago, gasoline cost about $1.09/gallon. Now, it’s about $4.00/gallon. Bush/McCain-style Republicans have spent about $500 BILLION in Iraq and Afghanistan, destroying the value of the dollar, and RAISING THE COST OF EVERYTHING. They also prevented generic drugs from hitting the market and prevented Americans from getting less expensive prescription drugs from Canada. Overall, the Republicans aren’t doing so well lately. What could be wrong? Maybe... *$4.00+ for gasoline... * Two botched wars... * Giving our troops tanks without much armor... * Providing substandard treatment in VA hospitals... * Making the U.S. a country that’s known for TORTURING PEOPLE, then lying about it... * Doing NEARLY NOTHING ABOUT ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION because they want their rich fat-cat contributors to have plenty of cheap labor available. Also, we can do without Bush/McCain-style fear-mongering that’s being pedaled as “experience” and failed war-mongering policies that have made Iran stronger. Oh, and they’re the party that preaches to us about morals. Then they get caught, for example, having sex in airport bathrooms. PEOPLE HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF DO-NOTHING REPUBLICANS! Bush WAITED ABOUT FOUR DAYS TO REACT TO HURRICANE KATRINA. On the day Katrina came ashore, where was Bush??? Bush was EATING CAKE with John McCain at a FUNDRAISING EVENT ( see the picture at http://www.newsweek.com/id/133551 ) Bush and McCain Republicans have become a NAUSEATING, BAD JOKE. Kenneth Copeland and the other ministires are accountable to the IRS, indeed they have asked for an audit by the IRS. They don't want to have all their financial data made public, would you want the Senator inspecting your records, files and personal letters |

That lady who gave offerings to be healed was misunderstanding.
The message of Christians should prosper-a good reference is 1John 2 Brethern, I wish above all things that you prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers. It (prosper) does include finances but is not the only kind of prospering talked about in this scripture. Notice it says ....even as your soul prospers. God does heal. I have been healed from a brfoken jaw that wouldn't heal naturally for 8 years. This happened through prayer. My kids have been healed from scoliosis. So you are too late to say God doesn't heal. I have heard the Copelands over the years and their scriptural teachings are sound. They use the jet for ministry-to better serve their travel schedule and increase the health of their bodies-so forth by reducing stress due to having to deal with commercial jet schedules. The senator is over-stepping his bounds to require the information he demanded. It is appropriate for the IRS to do the review. I as a donor don't want my name given to a Senator who hates Bro. Copeland and others called to testify because he doesn't believe their doctrine. Government cannot dictate to the church which doctrine to preach or not preach. |

jctaylor - good comment - I have to agree with you. However, as this situation drags on and I saw the most recent attack on Copeland from the Grassley camp - the nepotism angled attack. It makes me realize more than ever that Grassley is trying to find SOMETHING to grasp on to, and pin on Copeland. This has gone on too long. Copeland is going to fight till the end and he has gathered the support of some fairly influential leaders across denominations. Time for Grassley to suck it up and admit he screwed up - and MAYBE even get back to work and more pressing issues as a Congressman.
