Wife stresses Obama’s American values

Michelle Obama mixed the personal and the political Monday night in painting a picture of her husband, Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois, as a working-class advocate for the American dream who “will finally bring the change that we need.”

This is the best part of the article:

Obama stressed her and the senator’s middle-class backgrounds, saying the couple “were raised with so many of the same values: that you work hard for what you want in life, that your word is your bond and you do what you say you’re going to do, that you treat people with dignity and respect, even if you don’t know them and even if you don’t agree with them.”

She said her husband would rely on those precepts as he sought “to end the war in Iraq responsibly, to build an economy that lifts every family, to make health care available for every American and to make sure every child in this nation gets a world-class education all the way from preschool to college.”

“Barack will fight for people like them and ... Barack will finally bring the change that we need,” she said, promising that the senator would ask Americans “to believe in ourselves — to find the strength within ourselves to strive for the world as it should be.”

Barack Obama then appeared on a live video hookup from Missouri to tell his wife that “you were unbelievable”— interrupted several times by his younger daughter, Sasha, who kept breaking in to say,“Hi, Daddy!”

If you get a chance to see the video, it was really cute. They are definitely the Huxtables!

Children should be seen and NOT HEARD and should not be allowed to dress like little hootchies at the age of ten!

Dr. and Mrs. Huxtable would NEVER ALLOW one of their kids to behave so badly.

Michele Obama should stop giving speeches and take a PARENTING CLASS!

Barack Obama is NOT the working-class advocate of the American dream. If you, being a white person, listened to all of his speeches impartially, the conclusion that you would come to is that Barack Obama is a good speaker and very smart, but his values are not American values that is being shared among all White Americans.

When we speak of class society, we are taking about different ethnic groups of people who have different views of life (than ours).

so, Barack Obama can not represent America and would really be better off as a State Senator, where he can be in control of regional matters in stead of being in charge of all of America!

Wrong man. Should never be elected.

Then there are the religious issues of God and worship by White America.

Ever been to a Black church? Ever been to a Black liberation church? These people do not sound like Americans and they are not able to uphold the fruits of this great nation should every White fall (die or fall from God's grace)!

This is the solid truth!

AND LAST OF ALL:

Truth is hard for many people to take, because we people live in an enclosed shell, where our handlers keep truth from us. That is how it was in the Brack Obama organization as they did not allow people to speak out truthfully!

So, was hoping to hear something intellectual, something inspiring, something to grasp.....just not impressed. Believe me, I was hoping and looking for something. Really, should've been coached by an inspirational speaker to give us some umph. Same ole rhetoric, we've heard it all before. When she brought up Hillary Clinton's name, very obvious as to what that was all about and much distaste in my mouth for this woman, what's-her-name.

Nothing more clashing than to see Biden sitting there having to endure with a smile on his face.

Hillary, get up there and show her how it's done!

At best, a tadbit more interesting than yawn-after-yawn Nancy Pelosi. Changed channels ASAP.

I am white and I have been to a black church - great experience, they had an exuberance that was refreshing. I've also been to churches where blacks and whites worshiped together.

You sound like a person who is as clueless as McCain. Race is only related to class but not the same thing. I live in a racially mixed middle class neighborhood and I'll tell you what, I'd trade some of my white neighbors for more like some of the blacks and vice versa.

Short of the return of Christ, Obama is the last hope for America because we cannot survive four more years of Corporatism. The backbone of this country is the lower and middle classes and they are in trouble. We cannot survive four more years of nation building - we're already bankrupt.

Because of the Bush deficit, our nation is being sold right from under us. Because of the Bush legacy, we are one of the most hated nations in the world. Because of Bush's incompetence, we are a broken nation.

How long before China decides it owns enough of us that it should govern its assets?

What Obama offers is hope - all the Regressives offer is fear. They are so afraid, they are willing to trade our freedom for a measure of safety. What the Regressives offer is slavery to corporations.

There are moments in history that we need hope. We need a person who can articulate our concerns and let us know he or she understands. It will take more than Obama to dig us out of the Bush sewer, it will take someone who can motivate us to start the long and arduous task of digging ourselves out.

Only a disturbed abusive pedophile would make such a comment. To a normal person, there was nothing sexual about that cute little sundress. And if you ever raised children, I feel sorry for them. I know a woman who was raised under that philosophy. She hasn't spoken to her father in 25 years.

BTW, Michelle Obama was named to Vogue's International Best Dressed List for the second year in a row a month ago. Daughters want to imitate their mothers. I'm glad she has such a good model to follow.

Those kids had no business being on the stage. They are not cute and in fact, quite the contrary. Personally, I find them to be obnoxious phonies, just like their mother.

I do not like the Clintons one bit but at least they had sense enough not to parade Chelsea out.

I was repulsed though, when I saw that Chelsea Clinton is going to speak later in the week. Why? What for? STFU!

This election season is much too long and these candidates have all made themselves most unattractive and have worn out any welcome they might have once had.

This dragging out the kids is not necessary....look at John and Elisabeth Edwards for a good example of how unreliable the picture of a happy little family they so desperately try to portray is!

Why was Obama not at the convention on Day One? Does he have a girlfriend on the side like John Edwards and Bill Clinton?

Malia Obama looked like a little hootchie in her very inappropriate dress! Shame on Michelle and she should stop making speeches and take a parenting class!!!

Michelle should not be counting her chickens before they're hatched as the American public sees right through her and her phony act. She certainly won't be winning any Mother of the Year Award, either!!!

How dare you! That dress was hideous and not a cute little sundress. And you do not dress in a sundress to attend a convention that is being held in Denver, indoors. They are not in Africa or Hawaii by the way.

If Michelle Obama had given a high flown speech, you would have criticized her high flown rhetoric and complained about her lack of substance. That's how you republitards play the game. You can drop the PUMA act. It is totally outed as a fraud. The word is that there are fewer than 25 PUMAs at the convention, and the website has a maximum thread of four comments on every post. The "conflict" in the DEM Party is a Rove inspired, media driven hype job, according to the polls, and the party is united behind its candidate. Go cry in your beer. You failed. By the way, do you work for this guy?

Dallas Billionaire, McCain bundler, is anti-Obama group's backer

The spokesman for the American Issues Project, the independent group whose ad is the most negative of the cycle and links Obama to terrorism, says the group just filed a report naming its sole donor.

The donor, spokesman Christian Pinkston said, is Dallas billionaire Harold Simmons, who made his first fortune in chain pharmacies and is now listed as the 73rd richest person in the world, with a net worth estimated by Forbes at $2.1 billion.

Simmons, a major Republican donor, gave maximum $2,300 contributions to Senator John McCain last year, as well as to former Governor Mitt Romney and to former Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

He's listed as a bundler for the McCain campaign on McCain's website, which says he's raised between $50,000 and $100,000 for the Republican candidate.

He's also contributed to Rep. Chet Edwards, the Texas Democrat who has been mentioned as a possible Obama running mate.

Simmons was reportedly a major donor to the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth in 2004.

He's also a backer of a controversial plan to store nuclear waste in West Texas, which his waste management company would administer.

I'll bet you thought it was adorable when the Bush twins were out getting loppy drunk and crawling all over their friends, male and female, in public. I bet you howled with laughter when McCain made his hateful, filthy joke about her when she was just 13.

I guess you applaud the lifelong lies of the McCains.

Your ignorance is revealed by your vicious comment about Obama. It is traditional that a candidate does not arrive at a political convention till nomination night. Both parties observe that tradition.

You stand revealed as a hateful troll. You are ignorant of politics and you enjoy hate. Get lost.

It is not traditional for the wife of a candidate to give a self promoting speech at a convention, let alone parade her family around like a bunch of trained seals!

But what can you expect from people who buy their home from a criminal and attend the church of Rev. Wright for 20 years?

I don't have the patience to read thru your incoherent dribble. What's-her-name Obana was D.U.L.L. I couldn't believe the crap I was hearing - I don't give a rats about her brother and etc blurb - I cringed w/embarrassment having to listen to her, she's just not qualified for First Lady. I thought she was educated???? Not only is he painfully inexperienced, she's worse. Cannot have these ppl in the White House!

BTW, I'm not Republican.....
