Sometime between then and now, a focus group must have told McCain and his handlers that the experience argument wasn't cutting against Barack Obama, that the nomination of Joe Biden as Obama's running mate had eviscerated it completely -- and that instead he and his consultants had better find a way to corral disgruntled Hillary Clinton supporters, or forget about winning come November.

John McCain has a low opinion of the vice presidency, which he’s frequently described as a job that involves attending funerals and checking on the health of the president.(Happy 72nd birthday, John!) There’s a lot we don’t know yet about Palin, and I am personally looking forward to deconstructing her role in the Matanuska Maid Dairy closing crisis. But at first glance, she doesn’t seem much less qualified than Tim Pawlenty, the governor of Minnesota who most people thought was the most likely pick. Unlike Joe Lieberman, Palin is a member of the same party as the presidential candidate. And unlike Mitt Romney, she has never gone on vacation with the family dog strapped to the roof of the car.

However, I do feel kind of ticked off at the assumptions that the Republicans seem to be making about female voters. It’s a tad reminiscent of the Dan Quayle selection, when the first George Bush’s advisers decided they could close the gender gap with a cute running mate.

The idea that women are going to race off to vote for any candidate with the same internal plumbing is both offensive and historically wrong. When the sexes have parted company in modern elections, it’s generally been because women are more likely to be Democrats, and more concerned about protecting the social safety net.“The gender gap traditionally has been determined by party preference, not by the gender of the candidate,” said Ruth Mandel of the Eagleton Institute of Politics.

To: Woody Hayes & Laughing Liberial

Obama is not bringing up race the media is. Get it straight.

He is addressing race issues because he is forced to most of the time.

I'm sure both of you sit around and discuss it also.

He won't address it, unless it comes up on the teleprompter.

I think Obama should prepare himself for substance based attacks, intelligence based attacks, experience based attacks, foreign policy based attacks and economic based attacks - which is really where he is weakest.

The Rev Wright, Flager, Ayers, Rezko and Michelle controversies have created distractions that have worked to Obama's favor. The more time he spends defending himself with regards to these issues, the less time he spends talking about the subjects that he really should be versed in as a presidential candidate and, demonstrably now, has no idea what he's talking about.

By the way, CNBC televised an interview between Maria Bartiromo and Sarah Palin Friday night. It was amazing how this woman can answer tough questions about the economy and the environment without stammering and stuttering in the absence of a teleprompter or a written script. She is far more articulate and substantive than Obama. I almost feel sorry for Biden, she's going to eat his lunch.

Palin vehemently apposes abortion, even in the case of rape or incest, a fact that the public may miss while she's busy touting membership in Feminists for Life, a group that focuses on alternatives to abortion, particularly for college-age women. The organization works under the guise of providing women choices, as long as abortion isn't one of them.

Those being the two main reasons for abortion, are you against it in every other way or is this a straw man argument and you favor it for any on-demand situation?

What a weird, weird choice. The Governor of caribou and oil rigs, without any exposure to foreign policy whatsoever... would be Vice-President?

A 72 year old heartbeat away from leading the free world?

A self-styled "hockey mom" who governs a state with the population of a mid-sized American city?

C'mon now, are you Republicans really serious? You're kidding, right?

Seriously, you can't allow this to happen. Even you Republicans need to realize this is foolish. You need to nominate a viable candidate at your convention, not an inexperienced joke under investigation.

This woman isn't qualified at all. At least Obama has had several years of exposure in the Senate to foreign policy and has visited many of the countries we lead, he has been speaking out on foreign policy for years; this woman has nothing but a beauty contest and hockey league resume... no foregn policy exposure, no positions, no speeches, no visits to foreign countries, nothing.

Get real Republicans, this dog isn't going to hunt.

You Republicans need to do your duty, reject Palin and come up with a viable legitimate candidate.

What if McCain were actually elected and died within a few months? Have you all lost your minds?

Some of the loud mouths like Sharpton, Rev. Wright, Faracon, Jackson and others, could blow it. Why? Because they can't contain themselves, therefor by getting a little too loud, they will loose whites.

Tuli,

Correct. Each day, every day, I troll – which, for an illiterate like you, means “to sing heartily”. I troll the virtues of Barack Obama and Joe Biden, two men who eschew mediocrity, the core value of republicons.

In four months, when Obama and Biden resurrect an oath of high office completely trampled, betrayed and disgraced by the likes of another “D” student, Bush, and his sidekick Cheney (so mediocre he became a dropout, and developed a mean streak), hymns will once again be sung, flowers will bloom and the sun will shine again from sea to shining sea.

Put your hatred, bigotry and suspicious nature aside, and join the movement! You'll feel better.

By the way, the post above is completely unintelligible. As a descriptor of the drivel that emerges from your keyboard, the phrase "reasoned factual conversation" is simply a non sequitur. To whom much is given, much is expected. So from Tularosa High’s valedictorian, something better should be produced...really.

Lay down your survivalist field training manual and come out of your cave in the Sacramento Mountains. Show some character, woman! Stand up and sing the virtues of Obama and Biden!

The Jerry Springer white crowd won't vote for Obama. The rest of America will at least give it some consideration. Someday, the Jerry Springer white folks will realize they have more in common with black America than they realize.

McCain's problem is that evangelical men won't vote for a woman -- her place is in the home raising the kids, after all, right evangelicals?

you will not find that in the bible ,, what you will find is that women are to be the Help Meet of their husbands and they are to be subsevient to their husbands if their husbands are spiritual . They are not required to be subservient to other men .

I say let here kick Bidens butt !

But nowhere does it say that women cannot be a leader in the government .

Of course I know, I'd rather people simply tell it straight and stop sanitizing the process.

You do understand that doing what you will with your body has it's limitations.
