obama will likely assign her to a Cabinet position. Or, maybe to manage Bureau of Prisons.

Note that this was a case of simple assault as there was no cartridge in the chamber of the gun. Yet, they threw her in jail for all this time. Sentences in the land of the free are worse than in Communist countries. Especially, for those who do the politically incorrect thing. Time for a new paradigm.

Even though I'm a white female, I have to disagree with you and probably the majority of your views. This person deserved to stay in prison for the rest of her life simply because of the messed up radical hateful crimes committed by the Manson Family, one of which included a most horrific murder of a blonde white woman and her unborn baby. Isn't it possible that conspiracy to commit murder falls into place here someplace? Relating to both crimes? Believe me, I have seen plenty of sentences handed down in California and they include all colors. I'd like to hear your version of simple assault and how you interpret simple assault. These people (Manson follower's) are all insane, violent nut cases. Also, I'd like to know how you believe that sentences in communist countries are lesser than those in the US. Lastly, why did she even have the gun? Just because I'm afforded that right under the Constitution doesn't mean I own or carry guns--with or without an un-chambered cartridge.

Only problem is people have committed murder and served less time. This is political. It isn't the crime ... it is who is the victim ... and that is just wrong.
There was a man who raped a girl in Calif ... and cut off her arms. When he was paroled, California refused to accept him ... so he was quietly relocated to florida in the Tampa Bay area ... where he proceeded to rape and kill another girl.
Sqeaky is far less dangerous than this man. Squeaky is far less dangerous than thousands the liberal judges turn loose.

They will have to drag her out while she is kicking and screaming, begging them to let her stay, she has been institutionalized...Think about it, for 30 years she's had 3 squares a day, a roof over her head and all the wussy she could eat, she knows nothing but life in prison...Now, she will be on the street, no job, no insurance, without anything, in a world that is 30 years ahead of her...She will wind up on Welfare and Medicaid and we will wind up paying even MORE for her miserable existence on the "outside"...I wouldn't be a bit surprised to hear that she committed another crime just so she can go back to prison life...If she wanted to get out she wouldn't have refused her parole hearings, she could have been released 25 years ago... Unfortunately for her, time has run out and she is being "evicted"...

I do recall the case in California and if memory serves me correctly, it happened not very far from the Sacramento area. The defendant was named Larry?? Cannot recall his last name. I also recall seeing him on the news when he re-offended and that my thoughts were execute this SOB now. I know that sometimes states do refuse parolees, and that during time period(his first crime) Rose B. was possibly Chief Justice of the CA Supreme Court. She was also opposed to the death penalty--something all of these violent criminals need in my opinion. I said one time on this forum that sometimes a little old fashioned justice on the back lawn of the court house can be a great thing. I don't recall what that event was about. Also, some judges are reasonable. I favor sentences that are harshly handed down within CA law. I frankly can't stand the appelate process. OJ Simpson? Scott Peterson? Yuck.

Hello fellow posters. I'm back. Any Manson follower should stay in prison forever, even though I know in Fromme's case this cannot happen legally. I hope I don't look like her when I'm her age!!!!!!! Scary Scary. Cravczec-- Don't you know that Gerald Ford was never elected as a president??? He just had to step up when Nixon got caught "watergating." Don't all these political figures have some baggage? I thought I read that somewhere.
Yes I was actually an adult when that happened, so what's your point?

I have no point. It's part of my charm. Just kidding. My point is that I hate their crimes and I hate the thought of any of them (The Manson Followers)still being alive. I was younger at the time of the crime spree and can recall being afraid as a young girl in the 6th grade, approximately. That's my point. It seems you don't have a point and like to speak in riddles. I could be incorrect, but I doubt it.

The irony here is everyone but the liberal judge could see the danger of this man loosed on society ... a common affliction for liberal judges. How I wish this man and others could be settled in these liberal judge's neighborhoods, so it could be their wives and daughters they put at risk.
We spend columns lamenting over murderers ... but nothing over the release of murderers who kill again... which happpens all too often. Did you know that over 60% of violent crimes are comitted by felons released to prey again?
Judges are way to lenient ... not too harsh.
Here in daytona the chief of police lamented that a 17yr old had been arrested for armed robbery ... his 37th felony ... maybe we could lock him up this time?

His 37th felony, how nice. Were there any fitness hearings to see if he was fit to stand trial as an adult? I agree with you as to lenient judges, and too many of them. There just aren't that many "throw the book" judges anymore. In my humble opinion, the defendants/convicts have far more rights than their victims. As to those who are released and then re-offend, usually within 3 to 6 months of release, also true. Eventually, the violent ones, maybe more than the 60% you mention, always re-offend and end up back in the system. Another one at issue is how many DUI's can you get in a year without going away for only a minimum 2 year term? I've seen 5 "DUI's", then the person is released, falls off the wagon and goes away for maybe 10 years, without their good time-after they've caused an accident and killed an innocent person. Another problem, is that some jurors are plain stupid, and the person walks. Gotta love those in limine motions that keep out the nitty gritty that would convict a guilty person. Sorry, but I'm still in turmoil about the Manson Family and their crimes. Otherwise, you're on point.

Who are you to get on your high horse and judge someone you don't even know? What she did in 1975 took guts, far more guts than you will ever have.

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Sagittarius

Relationships have been going through through testing times since the Solar Eclipse at last month's New Moon in Gemini on May 20. Events may force you to reevaluate the state of a partnership. You may even decide that you need to make some major adjustments if things are to carry on as you would like. During the coming fortnight leading up to the rare second New Moon in Gemini, this may feel like a crisis, but that doesn't mean you should abandon all hope or throw out the baby with the bathwater.
