Why is this "law" necessary? I mean, are gun packin' people really so put out that they can't take their gun in a restaurant for dinner? C'mon people! We don't allow smokers inside...why on EARTH is a LAW necessary to allow hidden guns?

I guarantee the criminals are "packin'" their guns into restaurants and bars and everywhere they're not allowed to. It's about time our laws caught up with the times and allowed law abiding citizens the right to carry into these places. Maybe it'll make the criminals think twice...knowing that another might have a gun and he/she may not be the only one!(doubtful....but maybe) We all have a right to protect ourselves and our families and YES...as a "gun packer" I do happen to be 'put off' that I can't take my gun into a restaurant to protect myself and family if need be. And most people who take the time to sit through a 12 hour (straight) class to get their concealed carry permit wouldn't risk losing their license by drinking AND carrying at the same time! It's the criminals who do this all the time I'm sure...not the law abiding citizens who happen to have their CCW permit.

Please wait...
I am not worried about law abiding citizens who have taken classes, are registered with the state, and are legally allowed to carry a concealed weapon. I am worried about the criminals who don't give a #&$% about the law! How many shootings have happened this year where by law abiding citizens with a CCW permit? ZERO! How many shooting were the result of criminals? All of them! Please save me the sanctimonious BS that you are not going to be around someone who is trained and registered by the state to have a CCW and I hope that one is there if you are ever unfortunate enough to be the victim of a crime.

The whole "criminals are carrying guns so you should too" is so dumb. Honestly people. The fact you consider yourself "normal" while you conceal a gun in a restaurant doesn't make the rest of us more confident in our security. Your are not police. You are not legally allowed to engage in a gun fight. In fact, the thought of you sitting with your concealed gun waiting for the criminal to pop up in the Red Lobster makes me a whole lot LESS secure that innocent people will survive. Keep your guns home. Don't bring them to a restaurant where my children are eating. Thanks.

Cancelled carry people have been trained and know the rules, so its time for this law. Some others in the resurant you eat with may be carring a gun and are just plane criminals with intentions to hurt good people.

We are carrying our guns to protect ourselves, if you decide not to protect yourself from the bad guys, then they win and they may take your life away. A person setting next to you with a legal concealed carry isn't responsible to protect you from the bad guy, so hope you are sitting next to a policeman when you go out to eat.

If Governor Strickland signs this bill into law, all you out there who give him grief should reconsider what you say about Democrats and "liberals." It was this Governor who signed the Castle Bill into law, minimizing the restrictions pertaining to lethal self-defense in your own home.

history shows what happens to a society when they A. don't fight for their god given freedoms. B. they voluntarily give them up. "the government will protect me." ask a jew or a black or if you ever find one to communicate with, a north korean. the bible is the constitution for human beings whether or not you beleive in god.

People never seem to get it. The criminals are already carry guns into places that it is "illegal". Do you really thing that when a criminal walks up to a business and sees the no guns sign he says "darn I can not go in there"? This law is about allowing people who have underwent training, have been finger printed and had a criminal background check to not disarm when they go into a restaurant to eat. Also remember this law change still forbids people who are armed from drinking so the drunks with guns argument does not hold water. And for the record I do have a concealed handgun license and I don't drink.

See there, you'e attempting to use facts on people who would rather hyperventilate about laws they don't read or understand. Kinda like the US Attorney General and Director of Homeland Security.

Grabbing your gun so you can "shoot 'em up" at a fine restaurant where people are drinking is about the stupidest thing ever proposed. If a criminal comes busting in we don't need a bunch of wanna be cowboys shooting at the walls. It's like you want to relive the Tombstone days. Please. Let law enforcement keep the guns. Play with yours hunting deer or out on the range. Keep my kids away from your aim.

I hear what you are saying, but you are unwilling to hear what I am saying. You can't ban guns. It's impossible, regardless of whether it is constitutional or not. What you can do is ensure that bad guys have a free hand to kill people. What you can do is ensure that nobody can stop killers like the Columbine killers until dozens lie dead and maimed. That you CAN do.

Why can't I take my family out to dinner and know I have the means to defend them? I have a better idea... you just stay home. If you are that terrified of law abiding citizens carrying firearms then don't go out. By all means protect yourself :) I know I will!!!

Personally, I'd rather sit near someone who is legally licensed to carry a gun than someone with misbehaving out of control kids that the parents have lost control of and I have to listen to. I think they should ban children under 12 from restaurants. I could have an eye put out during one of their food fights!
