You seem to be missing the fact that the roadblock on the Senate side is Harry Reid (D)-NV so let's knock off blaming one party or the other. I say let the family decide and get the f'in politicians out of it!!!!!!!!

"War To End All Wars?" I don't think so thanks to radical pro-life freaks, anti-woman, racist frieaks who still don't get it. World War I Veterans fought for gay rights, women's rights and the rights of Afro Americans. It's amazing that 100 years later Republicans are trying to take back all the rights we won and send us back about 500 years. Republicans are Neanderthals.

Frank Buckles, the last WWI vet has died, the last one, and House Speaker John Boehner does not want to honor, our last WWI soldier ( which is honoring all that fought for our country) by letting him lie in the Rotunda of Congress. I thought the republicans where the party of patriotism. House Speaker John Boehner you are a non patriotic bafoon... Get off the golf course and do the right thing.... Contact your legislator, and demand they honor our soldiers that fought for our country in WWI, by recognizing the last VET of a generation that sacrificed for our country. They gave there lives, but Congress can not give a few days of recognition... Our country has had a history of not doing the right thing for our soldiers... lets change that... EDIT: I stated they are blocking the bill, I ment they are blocking the Ceremony.

Honoring him, is a last chance to honoring all that were in the war, it is not just about Frank, it is loosing a direct connection with the past, a huge past. It is not about Frank as an individual, it is about who Frank is as the last representative for all who sacrificed with him. It is saying thanks to a generation that sacrificed for us and a way of saying good bye to all that fought or were in that war. Again it is bigger than Frank or all of us, it is about stating that we are a great nation because of the sacrifices Frank and all of the others gave on our behalf.

The Demthugs will jump on any opportunity to whine about Republicans. They don't care what the facts are or that one of their own is doing the same.

What it comes down to is there are long standing rules about who lies in state in the rotunda. Those rules are being followed. Bend those rules for one person and another government agency would have to be created to handle all the requests that would come in. There's a reason for rules whether the Demthugs like it or not.

It should be obvious to even those idiots in Congress that they had better pass a law right now to honor the last living veteran of WWII when they pass by lying in the Rotunda. Without the sacrifices of all of those veterans we would be speaking either German, Italian or Japanese right now and I doubt it we would have a forum like this to make comments on!

You forgot to mention that Sen. Reid hasn't served the American people in any wars, either. Wouldn't they BOTH deserve your criticism?

Listen, Numbnuts, the "long-standing rules" are NOT being followed. If you had read the story you'd realize there is precedent for allowing this veteran to lie in state at the U.S. Capitol. If you and your fellow right wingers wouldn't keep cutting education funding every chance you get, perhaps you'd learn how to read. Bend the rules? I hardly think allowing an honor for the last serving soldier in World War I is going to create a problem. You and people of your ilk are destroying this country and ideals upon which it was founded. You are an imbicile.

Good to know that this discussion has degenerated into pseudo-religious political mud-slinging instead of simply allowing this gentleman to be buried in peace.

Thank you all for reinforcing my opinion of the bulk of you.

Rest in peace, Mr. Buckles. And thank you. If there is an aferlife, I'm sorry you have to witness these jackels.

The last caisson to honor the generation that fought World War I will roll Tuesday afternoon when Army Cpl. Frank Buckles is laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery, within sight of his commanding general.

The last American doughboy will lay in honor in an underground chapel at the Memorial Amphitheater at Arlington until 2 p.m., when public visitation will close to give the Buckles family time to pay their last respects.

A graveside burial service open to the public is scheduled for 4 p.m. Buckles will be interred in Arlington’s Section 34, the final resting place for General John Pershing, who led the American Expeditionary Forces in what was to have been the war to end all wars.

Buckles died Feb. 27 at the age of 110. He will be buried with full military honors, to include an escort platoon, a casket team, firing party and a bugler from the U.S. Army's 3rd Infantry Regiment, "The Old Guard."

Tuesday’s burial brings to a close two weeks of sometimes contentious back-and-forth over how Buckles should be honored. His daughter, Susannah Buckles Flanagan, had pushed to have his casket lie in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda as a way to honor not only him but all American veterans of the war.

Despite pressure from West Virginia’s congressional delegation to give the Charles Town resident an honor only afforded to 32 other Americans -- most of them presidents, statesmen and generals -- House and Senate leaders agreed on a bipartisan basis that a life long lived was not sufficient cause to lie in the Rotunda. Indeed, the family of one of the most decorated soldiers of the war turned down the honor when he died in 1964.

The family relented last week, arranging a public viewing Sunday and Monday at a Washington funeral home before Tuesday’s visitation in Arlington.

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Aries

Take care today Aries, because the emotional landscape in your neighborhood will be full of pitfalls during the coming fortnight, as it has been since the Solar Eclipse on May 20. The more convinced you are that you're right, the harder it will be to navigate your way around forthcoming events. If you feel resentful of someone, perhaps a neighbor or sibling, you need to get your feelings out in the open, rather than burying them deeper, where they'll fester and lead to more problems in the long run.
