The Democratic party approved this domestic oil drilling nine years ago along with the Republican parties base upon President George Bush. There are millions of acres under government leases for oil company ready to be explore.Unfortunate, that did not drop the gas price.Despite some Democrats warn the Congress nine years ago that this is not the solution.Well, we just don't learn from our mistakes. The Republicans are back in the Congress asking more government & tax payers wilderness land need to be explore. Is that really the answer to the crisis? I think Americans need to start use less gas in their life & conserve energy & star using alternative energy. This are the fundamental ideas of Democratic parties for last 9 years. Many what you call conservative Republicans want to save money.Well, the only conservative idea I see to my fellow Republicans are HIGHER GAS PRICE, CHEAPER LABOR by shipping our job to china & giving free pass & Amnesty to illegals. The Republican develop over this years the idea "Buy cheap & sell high".Even it means to screw fellow Americans.

1 Mike, Just think about all the jobs that would be created if we quit spending money on the oil from the middle east and started spending it on jobs and wages for Americans in a growing oil and renining industry at home instead... I don't know what we spend on Oil from from other countries, but it has to be equal to a ton of jobs that would be created here in the USA. It sounds like Ms. Pelosi is against creating new jobs in the USA and is against reducing our dependence on forein oil. Besides, with the growth of India, China and other young industrial countries, Oil will be in greater demand than ever in the years to come.. we have to prepare for the future and have leadership that thinks beyond their own power and does what's best for the American working man... Wouldn't you rather have a great paying job instead of a Government welfare check...? |

Well thanks to the Enron loophole this commodity is traded like futures. |
Even more of a reason we need to become energy self sufficient... lets make Americans benefit from selling the oil instead of Arabs and Latin countries... |

yep I agree with you. I think if we had our own oil, we could get our deficit in order and make life more livable for our citizens. Also it would have a dual factor, we wouldn't care about what is happening in the ME and the other oil countries who have nothing but trouble in their horizons. |

.....and Al Gore's Cap N' Trade game is an ENRON created speculators ' wet dream'. GOOGLE: ENRON carbon credits |

1 Listen demand has gone down, and the prices for gas still remains high. Although oil has dropped, gas prices remain high. You want to know why? I will tell you. Government regulation, which many people think would help reduce prices, even with energy consumption down. Why is this? It is because of 2 factors, first, China has bought up more than its share of oil in the world, to ensure they have enough oil for the high demand the Olympic games has put on them for energy demands. Second, oil being a commodity, is bought and sold based on speculation. The limited amount of oil in the world, the regulations government puts on the production, refining, and use of oil based products has a huge impact on oil prices, and the speculative remafications, of this regulation is huge. When you have a congress that is willing to look at alternative sources for energy that is good, but when the realization of the alternate sources, is still in the planning stages, it is bad, and puts more pressure on the commodity that oil is. Combine that with the fact that the democrat led congress refuses, or is slow to lift its ban on drilling for oil here in the US, and you have the stalemate that gas prices have now. Don't forget, once we announce our intentions to drill for oil, and it has the backing of law from the congress, you can bet it will cause Opec to get off its duff, and to cover their bottom line, and not only increase production but to lower the price of oil. There is no reason why with the proper actions from the politicians in this country, that oil can be cheaper, and energy prices can't go on. They need to give the speculators in the market reason to be optomistic, not pesimistic. Bush showed his leadership and lifted the presidential ban, now Pelosiu and the democratic congress need to lift the congressional ban. |

Absolutely right "Cowboyup"
When the government steps in and puts a grinding halt to an industy, then the price for that product goes up as it becomes short in supply. Simple Economics... We need to get the Govenment out of the Oil Business and let the free market do it's thing. If there is profit to be made in it, you can bet Americans will be involved. We don't need the government stopping the creation of new jobs and economic growth, and having our dollars going overseas to Arab banks and some of that money making it into terrorist hands. It's time we invest in America again and this is one of the things we do well... Lets all thank Pelosi for running America into the ground and keeping those hard working american jobs away from us. I think she feels that the more people are on welfare, the more they are dependent on her. Just think what that would do to the economy and the housing market when people could afford homes again in California... |
