Chuck Colson is dead. He was a part of only the second most lawless and unethical government administrations in our country’s history. The first being of course that of George W. Bush. (Third would be the treasonous Regan administration.) Colson was one of the key figures in Nixon’s corrupt group of insiders in a scheme to get Nixon reelected and increase his political control, during his Watergate involvement. And then as if that wasn’t bad enough – then he became a “Christian”. A fanatical, far-right, Christian. Which made him far worse than even his Watergate crimes. His evangelical conversation was his attempt in hoping to find favor of getting a reduced prison sentence. He only served a mere 7 months in jail. Even he admits that he was “ruthless”. His Prison Fellowship organization that he started is a “faith-based” program that coerces prisoners to become fundamentalist believers in order to obtain help. His sadly misguided messages of “Christianity” opposes: abortion, reproductive rights, same-sex marriage, evolution, freedom of speech, and the separation of church and state. His shady backroom dealings with others in the “Family” or “The Fellowship” made him one of the most dangerous people in the United States. The books he authored were full of anti-American, vitriolic hate-speech which he thinly disguised through his concept of “peace” and “morality”. It’s peculiar how he has spent so much energy and time railing over gays and gay marriage. Maybe he had some repressed homosexual tendencies. It is appalling that a dangerous felon with such fear-based ideologies was able to get his right to vote back by Jebb Bush. He was a hypocritical, un-American, criminal whose ignorant, injurious beliefs will not be missed.
