Since when do you have to agree with people to defend them from injustice? It's not our differences that divide us. It's our inability to recognize, accept, and celebrate those differences.<quoted text>
Spoken like someone who has not had to prepare for decisions on big issues in the real world of politics. Have you sat in the meeting with the senators, representatives, executive staff, lawyers and the real deciders, the interest group reps? Each is looking to cover his/her own behind, and line pockets with dollars . Real world achievement is defined by those with power, to some of those veneer is important.
Anyone who has dealt with big complex problems understands, not as an excuse, but as reality that "...under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.
(Ecclesiastes 9:11)"
You sound like a person whose ego exceeds his wisdom.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, including yours, but not their own facts.
Did you know reality is the leading cause of stress for those who are in touch with it? I never ignore a gut feeling, but never believe that it's enough.
I see politics as not about left versus right; but as top versus bottom. We need more statesmen who think of the next generation, NOT politicians who think, only about the next election.
I follow my instincts not my ego, that's where wisdom manifests itself.
Seems to me you need to embrace courage and let go of some certainties.
