The public option would be another bureaucratic nightmare staffed by a bunch of liberal cronies. No government run program has ever been a success; and they damn sure do not need to be in the health care business. It was the same old argument at the town hall meeting; those that want something for nothing vs those that would be required to pay for it!!

not a single person there would be required to pay for reform...get your facts straight more facts.

plus, there are plenty of gov. programs that work.

too many to count.

also, no one's saying bureaucrats will get in way of patient and doctor. that's why we need change because right now insurance companies are in the way of you and your doctor.

conservatives have nothing to offer. they're happy with the status quo. you never heard republicans trying to fix health care when they're in office because insurance companies fill their pockets with special interest money.

that's why dems in congress will be forced to save america on their own without repub support.

dems are for the avg. working person and the poor.

actually, dems/liberals are more like Christ than hypocritical conservatives think they are...

food for thought

Since you seem to have all the answers, who is going to pay for adding all the millions to the program?

Right!!!! And where is all the 'cash for clunkers' coming from? And, why aren't there more restrictions placed on people recv'ing unemployment cks? Some really need that money while beating the bushes to find replacement jobs....then there are folks who love being paid to sit home and DO NOT want to find another job. THIS is WRONG.

This is all a liberal dream come true. They crated this society (Great Society created by LBJ), totally for the result you see today. Now they have all these masses of people that are totally dependant on big bother for food, housing, and hand outs. This is the voter database that they have created. We are still the greatest country on earth (maybe not much longer) and the opportunity exists for any one to get an education and a job provided they have the incentive and initiative to go for it. These handouts have got to stop!! Help those that need help and get the free loaders off their rears. You mentioned the "cash for clunkers" program; how many of them will be repoed the next 6 months? Will it be like the housing situation where people were buying homes that had no possible way to pay for them? Thanks to idiots like the fairy Barney Frank and Chris Dodd we are in the mess way too deeply!! Now with all the handouts, bailouts, etc the Fed is printing money faster than they can count it creating the potential for the largest inflationary period ever experienced in this county. A cold beer will cost you 10 bucks very shortly!!

the money's coming from cutting health care that's not making people healthy.

most of the cost with health care comes from testing that's not needed.

money will also come from those making over $250,000 i.e. rolling back the bush tax cuts.

mrfranly says that welfare is for those who sit around and be lazy. true some do take advantage of the system.

but, if there was no system we'd be in a world of shit.

wait, that's what republicans want. pull yourself by your own bootstraps and get on with life.

well, how did that work out george w. bush.

he got us into this mess, with a shitty economy and the war in iraq that was a war of choice.

so maybe you should think about that before wondering where the money is going to come from.

asshole

please excuse me if this shows up twice as it didn't show up when I post it a few minutes ago.

"mrfranly says that welfare is for those who sit around and be lazy. true some do take advantage of the system.

No, I did NOT group all taking advantage of welfare into one group. I never EVEN mentioned welfare. I only mentioned 'unemployment cks.' PLEASE DO NOT misquote me or take liberties with my posts.

Now here is why I feel this way, ok?

I know a married couple with no children who were both fired from their jobs because they kept calling off work for one reason or another. They were not sick from some bad disease nor were they physically disabled. They just stayed up late playing computer games or watching rented movies and did NOT want to go to their jobs. Their employers fired both and replaced them with people who wanted to work and glad to have a job.

For more than a year, both these people have been recving unemployment cks and have not lifted a finger to find replacement positions. Why should they look for jobs? Because its nice to get a combined income close to $2000 each month and....get food stamps to boot. They don't even have to leave their house unless frozen/prepared/microwave meals disappear from their freezer then they just whip out a food stamp card for those purchases. When they run off to the grocery store for free food, they visit BlockBuster for a new supply of games and movies. Now tell me....is that right?

What I said was "there should be more restrictions" placed on those recving unemployment cks.

Anyone recving unemployment compensation should be required to apply for a certain number of jobs each week; producing that info in hard copy form to the unemployment office before next ck is written. If a person sits on their behind all week and doesn't attempt to find employment, then they should be required to tell the STATE why they did not look for employment that week and no ck should be issued.

I was not addressing the welfare program in my earlier post......ONLY how folks not willing to work get paid to stay home.

Thank you. Now let me tell you how I feel about one welfare issue that weighs on my heart. You may not like this story and you may want to blast me out of the water in non- support of what I am about to describe or perhaps you will feel the same as do I. Either way, is it ok for you and me to 'agree to disagree?'

I know of a young woman in this county who has a child from a prev marriage and one or two more from former relationships. She's been living with a new guy a few yrs and just delivered a cute little baby boy...the 2nd or 3rd child from their yrs together. She and the father WON'T marry...even though both are divorced.... because she'd not get free medical and free food and free other things for these children were they to wed....yet they live together as man and wife. If I understood it correctly, she recv's a State ck for all these children and soon will get a ck for the new baby. Her boyfriend/partner picks up odd jobs every now and again, but he really doesn't need to work because of all the State aide that comes in monthly.

I feel our state should make stricter requirements in situations like this and stop supporting adults who will not GET jobs to support their own off spring, but instead look to our state to feed and house their little ones...and themselves.

I'm all for families who want several children and work hard to support the precious babies they bring into this world. What I feel to be wrong is choosing NOT to marry because then STATE aide may drop or end all together. The couple I described made a deliberate decision NOT to marry and a deliberate decision to have one more child. WHY? Because they knew the State would pay for all medical, tons of food, diapers, clothes plus a monthly ck to boot so long as the mother was not married.

Am I against welfare aide to those in need? NO!!!! Am I against abusing our welfare system? YES!!!!!!!!!!

What this 'psudo family' is doing is abuse...if not fraud.
