Jan 11, 2012 Full story: The Plain Dealer 12

The Internal Revenue Service can't keep up with surging tax cheating and isn't sufficiently collecting revenue or helping confused taxpayers because Congress isn't giving it enough money to do its job, a government watchdog said Wednesday.

I guess it's a good thing that half the people don't pay taxes, the IRS would never be able to keep up.

"The Internal Revenue Service can't keep up with surging tax cheating and isn't sufficiently collecting revenue or helping confused taxpayers because Congress isn't giving it enough money to do its job, a government watchdog said Wednesday."

Baloney.

First of all, almost half of the citizens in this Country don't pay taxes. Then, out of the ones that DO pay taxes, MOST are from the working middle class who report their earned income (W-2s) and maybe a few allowable deductions.

Of the remaining wealthy 1% that may be hiding their assets from the tax man, you can't tell me that the IRS needs MORE money to hire people to keep up. If they aren't collecting the revenue, maybe the unemployment statistics factor in. People can't pay taxes on money they aren't earning.

What is the IRS going to do when ObamaCare kicks in and they have to collect the information and fine individuals who don't have health insurance? What then, if they can't keep up now?

I have no sympathy for the IRS, or any Government Agency. If they can't handle their work, too darn bad.

What's the problem? More then 50% of americans pay not income tax. Those of us that work support them and they get refunds from us too. A regular savings account paid for by the workers of america.

Guess we will see more government hiring and then more taxpayer money being demanded for government workers.

And Obama wants to give federal workers a raise.

Thats why Congress will not allow enough money for the IRS to function properly, they don't want their circle of Friends and Family busted up by the IRS investigators.

There can be no law enforcement if there's no money to advance the cause. Government shunk. It's not like the members in Congress didn't warn the American citizens what their purpose and intentions were.

No, we will not, what do you think the objective of cutting spending means? Shrinking Government so that it can not operate effectively. Objective achieved.

With 1 out of every 2 Americans earning wages at or near the poverty level, it's a wonder that half pays anything.

The IRS has additional duties. They are like Obama's own police force. They spy on Americans that disagree with the Administration. Clearly half as many people are working, payng taxes now so the IRS should have plenty of time to get their jobs done. Government workers don't work all that hard. Maybe they aren't ambitious to begin with.
