Full story: www.sfgate.com

Eight years after NASA began interviewing thousands of pilots about air safety and then sat on the results, a congressional investigation leaves the public no closer to learning what the now-closed project might reveal about safe skies.

Our Congress does not bother to read bills anymore and our schools are failing in every dicipline. I hope we still have pilots who can read and keep up with the latest discoveries.

The FAA for years now has gone thru attrition of retried people ,from another generation who grew up with avaition.....the experience and talent is gone.affirmative action has not helped.the replacements ,often to fill quotas, and not based on who is the better guy,has taken its toll.Ya can jump up and down about this, all ya want..but its your Butt in the friendly Skies!!

Lots of incompetents.Along with a thin line of capable people.

They do not interrupt the Pilots feed back with any effectiveness.A bureaucracy stuck in a quagmire of miss managment...its what we the flying public have a lot to wonder about.

However ,to date, safety has been acceptable.Com paring the amount of flights, the number of people, the record looks OK..but thats deceptive.

In Europe's air travel is a government controlled thing. they subsidize their carriers. Not so in the USA.

There is lots of room for improvement. Both in the carriers, and the FAA...but if they do not want to address this, because no one has the talent to do so..Well what ya see Is What Ya Get......
Not Unlike The POST OFFICE...all messed up!

In he coming years More and more people will fly...the currant system ,is still with the WRIGHT BROS.

Yet you mentioned the U.S.'s "Federal Aviation Adminstration". What do you think they regulate, sea travel?

Handed Antiochus the third his arse too. Between him and Scipio Aemilianus, they pretty much made the ancient world safe for democracy. The first real "Pax Romana"

Nice for an intelligent historical interest...its lke a dessert out here in TOPIX.its obvious you are a student of history. Roman history ,we are very much like them.
I think if you and I were in Roma at the height of PAX ROMANA!...we could never conceive of any force on earth, that could change our world then....but of course history shows us it does.

The parrells are telling...walking in the capital of the world,NYC,lets say,and witness a incident of horror,is very indicative of what can happen.

The barbarians are coming, our strength is being compromised,a total decay is creeping from with in..

I disagree with final "analysis," Rome never really fell... it was discorporated by attrition, more or less. But yeah, we're like-minded... and regardless of anything I may have implied, I do think it's a good idea to keep yer powder dry. Just because one civillization here or there may collapse though does'nt mean they all will. My faith in America is as strong as my faith in God, I would gladly die for either one because I don't want life without either. Happy Easter hoss!

Of course Rome did not fall .It lived in Constantinople for centuries.Rome is alive in every thing Western. The west is an extension of the concept of "ROMA"

We in essence are romans,in our language, law, and so many to list here..One just has to stand in front of the Capt ital Blgs..read the inscriptions, the architecture, and your in Rome.

The founders were very literate..they did not have an example of America to think learn from..They had the classics, they read them in Greek, and Latin...its from these concepts ,the founders drew the wisdom, and the know how to plan a Repbulic.....

This would be a far different world without the Classic worlds impact..Rome being most influential

I'm watching the Pope, right now.WOW! If any think Rome is not alieve...Its best they think again!

About America..well many have fought for our country, and will again

"TO KEEP THE PEACE PREPARE FOR WAR"

lets hope we do!!

I have made numerous trips to ITALIA..when in the Ancient Forum, and the monuments, a feeling comes over me...I'm Home!!

OK back into the woods....Nice chatting with you..

"CARPE DEIUM".... "he has risen'enjoy Easter!!

PS where's that Elephant shit kicker...Hannible??..LOL!!
