Rio Grande Valley border fence real, not 'virtual' as some Texas officials believed
“For more than two decades this has been a problem that has been bubbling up”
City officials in the heavily populated valley had anticipated a "virtual" fence of surveillance cameras and border patrols. via Boston Herald

It seems the stated objections are bogus. It seems those making these bogus claims are trying to create a smokescreen to hide their true motivations. It seems they are making money on the illegals and don't want their criminal profits jeopardized. I suggest any who object be thoroughly investigated to expose their criminal activities

These folks have been playing the "border game" for a long time. They have made a career out of how to funnel our tax dollars through the pockets of the illegal immigrant and into theirs. They are damn greedy crooks...that's what they are.

We need to fence off the whole border and staff it with guns from the national guard.
|
|
We need one of those security barriers like was offered by the Kanamits back in 1962.

"Environmentalists fear the fence will block Rio Grande water access to endangered cats such as ocelots and jaguarundi and ruin key feeding and resting areas for migratory birds."
Oh, for heaven's sake!! Birds can't fly over the fence? Urban areas are key feeding and resting areas for them?(If that's the case, the birds will probably love the fence!) We can't figure out something the cats can negotiate, but people can't?(The jaguarundi are 12-18 lb. cats, ocelots are up to 33 lb., both are very agile.)(And, how many of these cats are there in urban areas? If they like such, again, they'll probably love a fence designed to accomodate them -- but maybe they'll eat those birds - hmmm...) "This is going to seriously affect the farmers," he said. "They will not have access to water. It’s just going to create bedlam." No one has ever heard of PIPES??? "Irrigation, that’s one concern," Salinas said. "The other is the indirect message you’re sending to your neighbor to the south." Well, yes, a direct message would be even better! Maybe if Mexico would effectively work to reduce the number of illegals crossing over, the fence would not be needed. That seems like a neighborly thing to do....(Take the log out of your own eye before worrying about the speck in your neighbor's eye.) |

LOL that cracked me up too. A fence doesn't seem very indirect to me. We're not hinting here. We're yelling, "stay the hell out of our country, you no-good animals!" |

This border issue is a complex situation.
The migrant farm laborers have been moving back and forth accross the border for a hundred years. The American farmers need them. There is not enough other labor available to do the job. They had always been migrants. Not so now...they come and stay...then send for family and friends. This was made easy when the do-gooders decided about 20 years ago that they were mistreated and our tax money should be used to make their situation better. That's when the "border playing" crooks got into the game. There are a group of attorneys, politicians, clergymen, businessmen, latin rights activists, and other theives who have made the it easy for them to do this. If we oppose it we are made out to be "cruel and uncaring" and taken to court by the wonderful ACLU. Then LULAC gets a march going and the politicians tuck their tails and run. We Americans as a whole are a caring people and tried to help, but got crapped on in return. |

Well now... I am NOT saying the Mexicans are animals, nor do I want in any way to be associated with such comments! For God's sake, my WIFE is an immigrant, but a legal one, and even she marvels at our idiocy in granting CITIZENS benefits to migrants and illegals.
Seedtick is right on the button. |

It isn't --our-- idiocy. This is Bush's baby, not ours. |

The first line defense has to be on the border. In order to make that happen the local politicians in all four southern border states have to quit squeeling about everything the federal government tries to do. Most of them want the system to remain static because it makes money for them and keeps them in office. When the National Guard was sent to the border they opposed it. When a fence building project begins they scream foul. When the immigration officials raid businesses and pick up illegals the businessmen and politicians cry dirty pool. When someone tries to stop the people crossing the border to give birth to "anchor babies" the local officials call them uncaring and callous.
Now let me see....that doesn't cover everything, but it is enough to let us know that they are happy with the status quo and will oppose any change. When the rest of the country asks why the border is open...they say that we cannot offend our southern neighbor. Yet the illegals keep coming, the drugs keep coming, and the border remains open. I believe that congress and the president have to get together for this to be fixed. Congress has stopped funding the fence, so what next? |

we do not need another great wall in the United States nor a Berlin wall, what we need is jobs

lets get real and begin by acknowledging that due to the fact Texas used to be Mexico, and over "100 thousand" mexican citizens found themselves on american territory overnight when San Ana sold the part of Mexico that became Texas, betrayously for "15 million dollars" it was the biggest rip-off in american history because the whole state of Texas surely must be worth more than $15 million dollars and to add to the theft of the State of now Texas, the human abuse of the bad treatment of mexican immigration to a country that used to belong to Mexico, is like spitting on the faces of native americans the way this country treated the real owners of the native american lands who like mexican indians, suffered and still suffer the racial discriminiation now seen in Texas against Mexicans when Texas was Mexico to begin with..........proud american born mexican latina

Yes, Texas is worth more than 15 million. You must take in inflation. Most people will agree that the cost of things double about every 10 years. Taking that theory, If Texas had been bought in today's money, it would be about 491 billion dollars.
We also paid 15 million dollars for the Louisiana Purchase, which was even bigger than Texas. Tim www.rgvpride.com We spent under 8 million for Alaska and that gave us Oil, Natural gas, coal, gold, and diamonds. I don't think it was a rip off. I just wonder what Mexico did with the 15 million dollars. They could have bought Central America. |

Good fences make good neighbors.

yes but what many people don't realize is that this fence is going to cut through property of the united states both public and private, kicking many people out of their homes and businesses. It is also going to disturb the migratory patterns of many of the wildlife species that populate this area. these as well as the fact that it isn't actually going to be continuous but seperated into pieces of fence along the border, make this project not only useless but detrimental.

This makes me remembre a famous Mexican cancion...
Esa pared.... I think I will go to the fence and sing that song to mis amigos my gringo friends. I hope they can hear over the fence. si pudiera estrecharte seria tan dichoso el mundo mas hermoso lo veria por ti pero no se que hay entre nosotros que me separa cada dia mas de ti esa pared, que no me deja verte debe caer por obras del amor esa pared, que nos separa siempre debe caer debemos platicar las horas que pensando estoy en ti se hacen eternas como es posible que tu ni comprendas cuanto te quiero y mi corazon sera tan feliz ¡si tu eres mia! ¡si tu eres mia! Now I cry. |

No...you need the music too.
