I have just read the article FEMA wrote saying the number of trailers isn't as high as Mr. Gene Taylor has said but I am temporarily living in North Carolina and have been waiting since Oct.2005 for our trailer.Everytime I had contacted FEMA I or my my wife was told we were on their list.Last month We traveled back to Ms. to our property and we stopped at the FEMA office to see what our status was on the trailers and to our AMAZEMENT we were told they didn't even have us on record. So how come everytime we called we were told different...We had to re-instate our need for a FEMA TRAILER.I have contacted Mr. Gene Taylors office and got a call-back but this didn't seem to help our predictament Also Senator Cochran office and many other of our government officials.I know ALL of Ms. is suffering from this disaster but as Mr Gene Taylor has stated only six(6) trailers were provided to Hancock County last week. Our neighborhood and the city looks like a "war-zone"with NO ASSISTANCE for FEMA..This isn't the only thing most property owners are fighting with most of us are also fighting with our mortgage companies. It's like a nightmare we can't even get home we're fighting all of this from far-away.

I would appreciate if I could at least talk to ONE person that may be able to at least KNOW something about fema trailers.I have been approved and the trailer is suppose to be in Picayune, Mississippi but no one seems to be able to tell me where it is. My children, myself and my fiance' are HOMELESS as of this morning (Feb.10,2006). I have called all of FEMA numbers and trailer status, and maintenance and still NOBODY knows anything. So, I am thinking maybe I will go to the news people and see just how much they can get done. If anyone should know something and would be pleasant enough to contact me, I can be contacted at (985)774-8287 or e-mail address at cynthia.rene777@gmail.com or my sister at (985)652-6074 and her emil address is chrisabordelon@bellsouth.com. Either one I WILL get any information. Thanks for reading this comment. I guess this is more than I've received from fema since Katrina hit, and took my home away from my family.........

I am just letting you know you are not along. Maybe you can go down to a FEMA office an they can answer some questions for you. This helped me. You and your family are in me prayers. At least I was blessed to get temporary housing. I have a shool agr child and he is at least enrolled in a wonderful school. I have not decided if I will be going back to N.O because every thing was distroyed. Remember PRAY and it will work out.

My mother finally received her trailer last week, AFTER it was "shipped" to the other side of the state! What a Joke! WHERE IS OUR TRAILOR? LIKE MOST OF YOU, WE ARE STILL WAITING. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED NOT JUST IN THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT BUT OUR STATE OF MISSISSIPPI GOVERNMENT AS WELL. THERE ARE TONS OF TRAILORS SITTING ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD OF I-10 IN GULFPORT. WE HAVE 1000S OF PEOPLE WAITING FOR THEIR MAKE SHIFT HOMES. WE ARE A FAMILY OF 6 WITH FOUR CHILDREN. THIS IS SO TOUGH. THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD NOT PROMISE WHAT THEY CAN NOT DELIVER. OUR ONLY HOPES AS WELL AS OTHERS ARE CRUSHED. FEMA GIVES US THE RUN AROUND... THEY WILL NOT GIVE US A NUMBER TO CALL FOR THE CONTRACTOR THAT WE WERE GIVEN TO FOR OUR TRAILOR DELIVERY. WHAT A CROCK. WHEN WILL THIS GET BETTER?

I am in Florida nearly two years after being hit by Charlie, Jeanne & Francis. I still have no roof. At a meeting with FEMA representatives we were told people who suffred damage several years ago are still waiting! I have gone to disaster recovery sites and was told that people in Florida forget there were other states hit with damage. How can our government expect so many to keep their lives on hold? What is the sense of ordering trailers for people who live in the flood plain when local ordinances will not allow trailers. Why can't these trailers be delivered directly to the people who need them, why are they stored in Arkansas? Who is making the profit on the backs of the victims? I am sorry I can not offer more hope but you are being strung along just like they did in Florida. Where is the accountability. There were accounts of people in Miami where there was NO damage getting huge sums of money to buy TV's, clothing, furniture, even dental work. I have thousands of dollars in damage to my home and have received only a fraction of what I need to even replace my roof. There is no unity among the victims. We have no means to fight. I continue to be amazed that people in other areas don't know Florida is still in a state of disaster from the hurricanes. In 1999 funds were distributed immediately and repairs completed quickly. I wonder how long Bush would wait to have his residence restored? SHANNA GAUTIER MS wrote: WHERE IS OUR TRAILOR? LIKE MOST OF YOU, WE ARE STILL WAITING. My house will have to be raised at least 4 feet to meet the new Fed Reg's for homes on the coast. We have had to move back to where my job was and am now back in debt with the purchass of a home in an area that we thought that we would be getting away from. At least I have a job, but now I have to start over for the next 30 years to get back to where I was last year, aint that a bitch.

I am a mother of 3 small children and we lost our home due to the hurricane. I asked fema for rental assistance instead of a travel trailer, because I have a baby learning to crawl and I didn't think she would have room in a travel trailer. My rent was 775.00 a month and FEMA has only gave me 992.00 rental assistance. I can not afford the rent and other expenses, and I am trying to get fema to give me a mobil home. ASAP. I can't get them to help me, please if anyone can help me you can email me at bmwaggo@bellsouth.net my mom will let me know

When was it that we in this country got into such an entitlement state of mind? Someone (the Governement) owes us everything for our existence. Can you imaging this attitude surfacing during the dustbowl days in Oklahoma? Of course not. And we shouldn't conceive of it now.

LET ME BEGIN BY SAYING IF IT WERE ONLY A FEW PEOPLE EFFECTED THEN DISASTERS WOULD ONLY CAUSE A SMALL INTERUPTION OF LIFE FOR A HANDFUL OF PEOPLE BUT TO THE COMMENT ABOVE OBVIOUSLY YOU HAVE NEVER GONE THROUGH A SITUATION AS HUGE AND TO THE MAGNITUDE AS A HURRICANE CAUSES AND HAS CAUSED IN THE LAST 10 OR SO YEARS. MY FAMILY AND I SQUEAKED THROUGH HURRICANE IVAN IN 2004 ONLY TO FIND OUR HOME ON RETURN TO BE UNLIVABLE. I AM A NURSE AND MY PRIORITY WAS TO CONTINUE WORKING WITH THE SPECIAL NEEDS SHELTER "HELPING OTHERS". 10 DAYS LATER WE GOT POWER AND I CONTINUED TO HELP OTHERS THAT WERE NOT SO LUCKY BY BRINGING ICE AND HOT MEALS. I JUST ONE WEEK AGO MOVED FROM A 14 X 70 MOBILE HOME THAT WAS PROVIDED BY FEMA (THANK THE LORD) IT HAS NOT ONLY BEEN HARD TO FIND HOUSING BUT ALSO TO FIND AFFORDABLE HOUSING ALONG WITH OVER 2000 FAMILIES (AT LAST COUNT). THERE WERE A FEW SMALL FLAWS WITH THE HELP I GOT BUT ALL IN ALL WE WERE LUCKY. THE ONLY QUESTION I HAD WAS WERE I WAS THERE WAS A BRAND NEW TRAILER AND ONE ONLY USED 6 WEEKS ON EITHER SIDE OF ME AND BOTH WERE EMPTY. I ASK SEVERAL TIMES WHY THEY DIDNT TAKE THEM WEST TO OTHERS THAT NEEDED THEM, BUT NOONE KNEW WHY. I AM HAPPY TO SAY WHOMEVER GETS THE ONE I JUST LEFT WILL BE HAPPY. I WAS ONLY IN IT 6 MONTHS AND TOOK VERY GOOD CARE OF IT SO THE NEXT PERSON COULD ENJOY IT AS WELL AS THEIR FAMILY. MY BIGGEST FEAR WITH KATRINA EVACTUEES IS THAT FEMA IS ONLY SAID TO HELP FOR 18 MONTHS FROM DATE OF DISASTER "PERIOD". THERE IS NO WAY EVERYONE WILL BEGIN TO BE HELPED BY MARCH 2007. THERE IS NO FULL RECOVERY GOING TO EVER BE INSIGHT FOR ANY OF US BUT MAYBE IT CAN BEGIN TO HELP US ALL IN SOME WAY NO MATTER HOW SMALL IT MAY BE. GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU .

I've heard FEMA still has 100.000 families in trailers along the gulf... what will be done when the hurricanes start in a month? All those families will need to evac... what if all those trailers are destroyed? Perhaps it's time to move north....or west.

Has anyone seen the FEMA trailer park being constructed on Broad Avenue with a beachfront view? Where is the logic?? They are not yet ready for occupancy and it's hurricance season. These trailers won't survive a tropical storm.

Fema still has around 100,000 trailers with people in them down there. Another hurricane will shred them.. Then what? What a stupid plan to put people in trailers in hurricane ally. Good move, GWB. He approved it. But when disaster comes, he will blame others.

Richard They are being refurbished you idiot. They had families in them and i personally would not want to live in someone els's filth how about you. I live in purvis, and i have been on the grounds. You wouldnt beleive some of the stuff in the trailers. It is disgusting, if the previous users wouldnt have trashed them then you wouldnt be waiting now would you? So blame the people who trashed the trailers that are sitting in Purvis not FEMA.
