What is actually being said here is that the taxpayers will get a break they deserve. I don't want to see anyone sick not get help, but my medical insurance (which I pay for) will not cover a lot of medications, x-rays, etc. I also have a fairly large deductible plus a co-pay. Folks who use Jackson Memorial and other institutions of this type, get all the tests, medications, treatments, etc. while the rest of idiots who pay for insurance stay away from medical facilities due to the cost. We are more apt to die from something that those who use the taxpayer supported facilties. Go figure! Is this a great country or what? Well, it is if you are an illegal - they demand and get all the services paid for by us taxpaying idiots WHILE WE DO WITHOUT. I say, you go Bush or whoever, and eliminate some of these freebies.

I'm self employed, If I buy health insurance, it would take half of what I make every month to pay for it. For the last 12 years insurance lobbist, pharmasudical lobbist and Doctors lobbist have bought the best politicians money can buy. They have maximised profits and raised their rates at a much higher level than inflation. If you pay premiums every month why the hell isn't absolutely every thing you need covered???? People like me are better of with a small reserve in a money market accunt for medical emergencys. Why should I feed a monster every month, that in the end is not going to cover everything I need.

Of course we want to and need to help a certain percentage of American poor who truly need it, but as in other countries in the world if you are not a citizen you must pay for services up front before you get them. To stay in other countries you must show that you can support yourself and not be a burden to that country's peoples. The same should apply here.

She's a typical left-wing liberal up-and-coming media-hound politican who caters to her leftist South Florida base. So is rookie Ron Klein. Voters opted to dump the extremly competent and affable Clay Shaw in favor of Klein in November.

For the record, nobody pays my medical bills either, as I have no insurance.

One final thought though---how much of our taxed (confiscated) money goes to pay for medical care for the millions of illegal aliens that live in this country, as well as members of their families who follow?

the solution is so simple Universal Health for all. You would actually have MORE choices than you have now with an HMO. Oh, but it will never happen because the insurance lobby has bought off all the Republicans

We have health insurance and it costs us $700 a month for our family. Would we like to not have to pay that? Absolutely. BUT WE DO. People need to PAY for insurance and not depend on the hospitals to foot the bill and charge the rest of us people and insurance companies more because people just want a free ride.

PAY YOUR WAY!

ESPECIALLY SMOKERS! If you smoke and overeat and drink alcohol then you don't deserve any free medical care because you made yourself sick and now you expect someone else to care?

"Federal Medicaid officials dispute those figures, saying the rule would not affect reimbursements for government-supported hospitals. But administrators at those hospitals aren't sure."

What's the story here. Hospital officials THINK they'll be affected, but aren't sure???

Not to mention there are no real cuts in healthcare spending. Simply a reduction in the amount of increase.

Before assuming everyone who is uninsured is looking for a free ride, consider this: I am uninsured, and would LOVE to purchase insurance. But what about those (myself included) that have been denied coverage for pre-exisiting conditions? I've agressively tried to obtain coverage from various insures...and have been repeatedly denied! I'm even willing to pay the outrageous amount private insurance would cost (I've been quoted as much as $500 monthly), but MY only recourse is to pay $250 plus meds every time I get sick and need to see a doctor. If insurance companies weren't so concerned about profits, maybe they'd make their policies more accessible and affordable.

I was recently hospitalized and required emergency surgery. I'm unisured (not from lack of trying to obtain coverage) and went to a county hospital because of this. I've now got over $75 grand in medical debt, which I'm slowly paying on. I'd love to see a "free ride" that everyone claims uninsured people are looking for. But I'm a responsible citizen and am paying on my debt. BTW, I'm 21 years old. Do you really think it's fair that I don't qualify for any aid because I make more than $19K a year? Is it fair that at this young age, I'm already up to my ears in debt (all medical) and don't even own a house?!? All because I unexpectedly fell ill? I am one of many who are experiencing this medical crisis. Continued privatized medicine will only bring about more people like me. It's time to consider socialized medicine.

I am insured but pay for it. I could not get a job
because I only speak English. Isnt this funny, that in my country I couldnt get a job because I speak the language?? I also have to pay for the
hospital bills of people who do not have insurance.
I know that people need help and I do help people in need, but there is a limit as there is a limit
to my salary and just how far it goes. I wonder
what Our president would do if he were poor and earned less then $50,000. a year had aging parents
that needed his help. There should be a plan that
helped our citizens first not last and all no citizens had to pay for there care, like we do when
we go out of the country.

It is about time that these hospitals start realizing who pays the bills. People with insurance and assets for them to lien. NOT THE ILLEGAL ALIENS MOUCHING OFF OF OUR SOCIETY. My medical insurance premium is in excess of $1,000.00 per month....and I am single, healthy and 64. Let's take care of our own first.
