She's a widow, not an "ex-wife". "Ex-anything" implies divorce. If you're still married to your partner when your partner dies, you're not an ex.

The article tease with link is wrong. "Ex-wife" ??? Cher is Sonny's ex-wife. Susie Coehlo is Sonny's ex-wife. Mary Bono is Sonny's WIDOW.

"Couple" is also a singular noun. To write, "while the couple were on a camping trip," demonstrates lack of respect for the English language and for the reader. What if two or more couples went on a camping trip? Then "were" would be correct. But one couple was on a camping trip.

I thought she already married after Sonny's death ? Isn't this her second marriage since he died?

Forget all of that, what happens to the districts they represent?
who will move to another state? How can a congressman represent his district while her/he or his spouse lives in another
state? I guess what I'm asking he who will resign and if one doesn't where will they live? Let someone else represent that state!

This headline seems incorrect. Everything I read suggests that she is Sonny Bono's widow, not his ex-wife. I think that's an important distinction.

Hopefully, her new husband won't ski into a tree.

these are the funniest posts I've read all week. I don't know which is the best, the ex versus widow correction, the couple grammar correctin, mary mack in black, or the reference to Cher. I think the first one which captured my thoughts exactly upon reading the title. Clearly some of you should be writing for the Trib instead of some of the writers on staff now.

You are right. I wonder which one will give up their residence or will they live apart to keep two jobs? Do you know much about the Fred Lester Elementary School in DG? I was on the USS Lester DE-1022 named for Fred for almost 6 years. I made Chief on that ship and she was a great ship. We had 13 "E"s in the time I was aboard which says a lot for any ship. This was a very happy part of my life. You people in DG can be proud of Fred Lester, a real hero. There is also a Naval Medical Center in the Pacific named for him.

If her constituents are satisfied, their I.O.'s must have plummeted to zero. I heard her on C-Span, and believe me, she is stupid. But, to each his own. Goes to show, anyone can run and get elected to Congress - as we well know and have seen.
