The money was probably put in the appropriation by the guy from Alaska so he could later point to it as "Well, see, I'm not the only one up here building bridges to nowwhers." Several "fixes" are needed. First only congressmen from the State where the project is going can request the money be added - no other state's representative should be allowed to request money for something in another states. Secondly, no "add ons" should be allowed to be stuck onto any legislation un-related to it. Thirdly, give the President the "Line Item Veto" every President has begged for and we can nip this pork feast in the bud now.

$10 million in taxpayer money for $40 thousand in campaign contributions is a pretty good return on you money. Ethics in congress? You've got to be kidding. Last April, Dianne Feinstein (D. Calif) abruptly step down as chairman of a military appropriations subcommittee after it was learned that her votes were linked to the financial well being of her husband's companies, which received billions of dollars worth of military contracts which she approved. Folks there is no oversight of congress. The U.S. congress keeps ripping the taxpayers off.

Kudos to this editorial! We need to support senators who insist that the old way of doing business is not right, and that there must be accountability and fairness on how the taxpayer's money is being used. The "good ole boy" way of doing business must be stopped. Don Young has yet to be held responsible for any of these questionable spending bills that he helped pass as head of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. Only by a full-scale investigation may Don Young and others like him, be stopped from abusing their position and passing laws that only benefit some crony who paid into their coffers.

The problem is only that we are only given a choice between crooks. We need to start holding these people accountable and start passing better laws.

I will only vote for those who want less government and more freedom. Time to stop the Spending spree on your dime.
