Who surreptitiously perverted the will of Congress?

Coconut Road near Fort Myers looks like any other concrete ribbon near housing developments, golf courses and shopping malls in this state's booming southwest.

You want earmarks? Get with Barnes & Thornburg, run by "Bush Pioneer" Robert T. Grand, a recent Ballard appointee. They got a million bucks for Johnson County, and it only costs 40 grand a year in lobbyist fees. Of course, all that dough went to politician-greasing American Structurepoint.

Wanna sell off a public utility to your buddies? Cheap? With public subsidies? Get with Ice Miller.

Behind closed doors

On the job front

Two prominent Marion County Republicans have taken jobs at some of the city's biggest law firms.

Tom John, chairman of the Marion County GOP, said he is taking a job at Ice Miller in its public affairs practice. He left his own firm of John Lewis & Wilkins at the end of January, he said.

John saw his political clout grow after helping to engineer the upset victories of Mayor Greg Ballard and council Republicans.

Ice Miller, where former Mayor Bart Peterson worked, was generally seen as losing pull with city government and access to lucrative city business and bond contracts. Lacy Johnson, an Ice Miller attorney, was just replaced as president of the Indianapolis Airport Authority board.

John said his experience made him a good fit for the position "regardless of who's in the mayor's office."

Meanwhile, City-County Council member Ryan Vaughn has been hired at Barnes & Thornburg. Vaughn, the council's new majority whip, had been with Tabbert Hahn Earnest & Weddle.

Joe Loftus, a partner at Barnes, said Vaughn will focus his practice on state government issues and will recuse himself from any city issues that present conflicts with the firm's interests.

Even your racist "Voter ID" laws won't save you now! To many people see through you to the truth of what you are!
You like this? Yeah?
Here we come and there is NOTHING you can do to stop it.
