Southland Parks Bill Awaiting President's Signature

Legislation for a study of more than doubling the size of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area is awaiting the president's signature, a local congressman said Wednesday.

There are over 15 million people right here in the LA area that, thanks to the SMNRA, don't have to drive "across the US" to visit a national park. With only about 2% of land in the City of LA dedicated to open space, the NPS most definitely has us residents in mind as it strives to ensure the region's overall sustainability for generations to come.
