Republicans have provided the political platform for the Neo Con Parasites to Gut, Usurp and Crap on the same United States Constitution the Founding Fathers fought and died for.
They deserve nothing more than to be hauled before the United States Citizens and made to answer how come they're Conflict of Interest and Collusion challenged.

If House Republicans had any guts they'd turn the lights and microphones back on and open the door for CNN and CSPAN. Are the power switches locked in a room and Pelosi has the only key? Are they afraid they might get in trouble?

This is nothing but play acting.

"Odd" and "dimly lit".

Great article. From a great newspaper. I just remembered, my puppy is now one year old and house broken. I can now cancel the Courant.

Of course there also is the more important fact that a majority of Americans want to do some form of off shore drilling. So Pelosi sends everyone home without a vote. This is the representation we can look forward to if these idiots get the Presidency. Notice I say these idiots, because it is not about Obama. He will merely be the "yes man" of the same old DNC. Once again the Dem controlled House does NOTHING to represent us. NOTHING!

IF ANYONE FED UP WITH THIS "ARISTOCRACY" MENTALITY WANTS CHANGE.. Please do vote McCain and agains the Dem incumbents.. He is not my ideal candidate but he is OPEN to listening to us.. The others are invested only in the party line on how to fix us.. they are just as rich , if not richer than the Republicans.. and do not suffer at the pump.. NOT Voting only helps them..

Thanks for the suggestion. you obviously have access to the internet so please look at other viewpoints and reflect on it. Just one example is the hate Iran campaign waged by our gov. Are you aware we helped the Brits depose Iran's democratically chosen prime minister in 1953 to set the Shah, a ruthless dictator like Saddam, into power. The Iranis suffered through 25 years of this. By the way, that was about oil. The prime minister wanted to nationalize British Petroleum. We joined in so our oil companies could get in on it. In the late 70's when there was outrage about the Iranians holding US Embassy{mostly CIA} workers hostage, was their any mention in the press about what occurred in 1953? The Iranis were vilified for what they did, but amazingly, none were harmed. We then proceeded to aid the aggressor Saddam when he attacked Iran! And now all the fuss about the Iranis enriching uranium. It's perfectly legal according to the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty. Now how many times have you seen that included in the incessant BS stories about the great Iran threat? Remember the incessant WMD stories all over our mass media like sh** just prior to the attack on Iraq. Finally the leaders of both parties recently OKd 400 million to the CIA to continue terrorist activities in Iran. Now, of course, our gov calls it "destabilization", which our quasi-government media eagerly repeats. But it's terrorism, all right, of the most insidious kind, involves hiring criminals to do damage including killing of civilians. Now, Schmidt, if you have a good reason why I'm supposed to hate Iran, please elaborate, I'm all eyes.

The article's title says it all about this paper's agenda: "Odd".

Instead of demanding a discussion (debate) on the most pressing issue of our time it calls the article "odd" as if protesting is something so foreign.

Tax and Spend Libruls...
In my lifetime, began voting when Nixon was impeached, I've seen Republican Presidents spend our tax monies without paying for the spending. I've seen Democrat Presidents pay up the IOU's the Republican Presidents foisted on us.
King Pinocchio pushed for the tax breaks enjoyed by the Neo Con owned Conglomerates, the rich and super rich who comprise the 1-5% of Americans... To the tune of the up to 53 trillion American Taxpayer dollars in deficits, in direct and radiating costs, King Pinocchio and his fellow Neo Cons foisted on us.. That us, our kids and grandkids will have to pay off while the Neo Cons skip to their offshore accounts, in countries with no extradition treaties, to count their stolen loot.
Lemme see.. The next Democratic President will have to rescind the tax cuts on the wealthy and ergo... The Neo Cons are already hollering that the Democrats are raising taxes.
How do the Neo Cons propose to pay off the 53 trillion dollar deficit?? More tax cuts?? Grow the economy?
What new lies will we listen to??

If this is the "new" Courant, what garbage.
No kidding! I had to go back and check to see if this "article" was actually an opinion piece. According to the Courant, it isn't.

This isn't reporting, it is pure editorializing. What is the Courant thinking?

I happen to think that the Democrats should go back. We are in a crisis of energy. Too bad that their vacation was planned ahead. They should be there hammering out a compromise with the Republicans for the benefit of the American people.

As for the "let them eat cake" comment, it is true that Marie Antoinette did not actually say that, but what in hell does that have to do with this issue? The fact is, everyone knows what that means, and it DOES reflect the arrogance of the Deomcrats in the House.

During the run for reelection in 2006, did not Mr. Shays say he opposed drilling in Alaska? What has changed?
Gas prices in the low 3s vs prices trending towards $5 earlier this year. One who doesn't review their polices when things change is not fit for office.

To illustrate, say a gas station has a policy of never selling gas for more than $4. That policy might change if the gas cost exceeds the companies price ceiling, least they drive themselves out of business by a refusal to change policy.

As a society, we might blindly drive ourselves into the ground if policies, however noble cannot be financially supported.

Your party is losing faith in your ability to govern. A topic of this magnitude demands your attention and you turn your back to it?????
You all have a lot in common with Obama, lack of good judgment.
