Laugh all you want. It's true. Watch the Obama's speeches and his supporters. You won't see hate or bigotry. You will see hope with a positive attitude. Watch McCain's speeches and you will see an angry mob calling out derogatory names and threats of violence. It's not a pretty picture. |

1 Post Comment 2 Comments The proud backers arrived in their rusted out cars and trucks all adorned with NRA, Reagan for President, And Bush 04, stickers. The most faithful also brought their whole collections of the "My Pet Goat" series. The many participating took time off from a myriad of occupations ranging from scrap collectors to retired vets without any benefits or teeth. The one commonality was a love of the Republican Party and a total disregard for reality. A few of the celebrants, on occasion, could put together 2 or 3 sentences using words with up to 2 or 3 sylables, usually saying "Bush's Third Term" or "We love the trickle down theory". When approached and questioned many of the replies started with "My Dad says or my Daddy always said" and when asked about their opinions on the present state of America, the economy, the participants blamed Jimmy Carter, JFK, and the position of the moon as compared to the North Star when it was directly above the outhouse. Enough said. Another unremarkable group of Republican voters. |

Ok lets try this again... You're obviously dodging. Youre trying to pull something up about 2000. Ok fine. A month is equivalent to an 65% increase in taxes for people in your tax bracket. A month's PAY, not a month's tax increase, a month's PAY is the difference... so you say. I know you're lying because there is no way taxes jumped on the last year of Clinton's presidency by 60-65%. So saying you earned 25 thousand a year. You pay about 3 thousand in taxes. A month's pay is somewhere around 2 thousand. So now you trying to say your taxes went up by about 60%??? No way man. |

Oh, I goofed on this one. Even having read the posts a couple of times, I switched the issues. I'm in total agreement (I was trying to defend Obama's supporters). Sorry about this! |
I never made any claims about taxes, that was another poster. I am arguing with your argument that said GW Bush set tax policy for tax year 2000. Another poster claimed that their tax bill dropped some number, not sure it was 65%. If you are making $25k, you are likely paying far less than $2000 in federal taxes. The feds have nothing to do with state taxes, which must be quite high in Michigan. Who controls the legislature and governor's office in Michigan anyway? Who do you blame for unemployment in Michigan, the feds, or your state government. Unemployment in other midwestern states is much lower. |

1 A great resource for anyone wanting the real (as opposed to imaginary, distorted, convoluted, out-of-context, exaggerated, emotion-laden, biased, false, etc. ad infinitum)facts. The site doesn't take sides and finds "mistakes" and accuracies on the part of all four candidates. PS You might see this post elsewhere. |

How young and foolish do you have to be to have to go on the internet before you can decide how to vote? What are you doing the other 3 years and 49 weeks?
Tunes and games? |

I'm surprised by the number of people (most my age) who are still undecided on who to vote for. I'm actually quite stunned, but I respect that they're not taking their vote lightly (notice I didn't encourage anyone to "vote early, vote often" or "don't vote at all" like some posters are around here!) |
I think it comes down to the view that I and many others in MN have degraded to, which is, the Presidency this time around, is a wash. They started two freakin years ago, and we ended up with Color as the defining choice, as sad as it is to say! Other than a couple of issues, if you leave out the partisan bovine feces, they are two sides of the same coin. Really the only thing that will drive the sane of MN to the polls this election, is the effort to either Hang Coleman, or block that scary little Antagonist Al from the Senate seat. |

only the Times can call him that, you racist. IT’S OK AT THE NEW YORK TIMES (to call The One, Hussein) http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/28/us/politics... August 28, 2008 Obama Wins Nomination; Biden and Bill Clinton Rally Party By ADAM NAGOURNEY DENVER — Barack Hussein Obama, a freshman senator who defeated the first family of Democratic Party politics with a call for a fundamentally new course in politics, was nominated by his party on Wednesday to be the 44th president of the United States. |

I take issue with your criticism of using the internet as a factual source of information. The internet is a tool just like newspapers, TV, magazines, radio, etc. There's good and there's bad. A smart person can figure out the truth, if he's really looking for it. What is your choice for the truth? Fox news? |

My dear, you must be joking. Facts are what happens. You can go anywhere for a news report. If you take the time to read the whole item-not just the misleading headline and the slanted lead-and use a pick and shovel to clear out the debris of opinion from the nuggets of fact any thinking person should be able to determine the truth. Again, where were you and what were you paying attention to the other 3 yr and 49 weeks of the election cycle? For that matter, weren't you ever taught what you should be paying attention to in order to be a good citizen? Obama says he was only 8 yr old when the Weather Underground was committing and condoning mayhem. Well, I was an infant when Alger Hiss was tried. At no time in my long memory was I unaware that Alger Hiss' home was not a place where I would want to be entertained. If you pay attention and avoid using substances that fog your memory and interfere with your brain function you don't need anyone to tell you what to think. The younger generation today seems to panic at the thought of breaking ranks with their peers. I've been a rebel all my life. The less I care what others think of my opinion the more people seem to court my favor. Go figure. |

1 When asked to name three people whom advise he would lean on, the opportunistic McCain said that one of those people would be John Lewis. That's right the same John Lewis whom he is so insenced with right now. Fact of the matter is, Lewis has never been one to give advise or seek advise from John McCain, and Lewis stated so a day after the event. Lewis is the only member of the Senate or house who worked as part of the American Civil Rights movement in the sixties. So it is only natural that McCain throw around Lewis' name to tout a civil rights cache' that he actually cannot claim. Lewis' comments come from a very real place. It was Lewis who was one of many who marched in places like Birmingham, Selma, Macon and Mobile, to name a few. He has been arrested, hosed, spat on, punched and called the most painful of things. John Lewis does not take hate lightly. So when John McCain and his Nazi's spew the inuendo that Obama is less than a patriot, when he ties him, unfairly to terrorist acts from decades ago, and does nothing to quell these attacks even after those in his own party, right wing giants who supported Bush1, Reagan, and even Bush2 say that he should, the attacks go on unabated... John Lewis realizes that the stupidity, the narrow-mindedness and hate should be rebuked by those who started it to win an election. Lewis realizes that people could actually die due to this stirring up of emotion that comes from a very bad place. That same place that Lewis knows all too well. John McCain does not respect John Lewis. John McCain never has. He simply USED this man's reputation to paint himself as someone who actually cares about those who are not white. Then, he goes out and points out to the sickest Americans that not only is Obama Black, he is also responsible for anything and everything that is a threat to America. It is the most shameful display of politics I have seen in my life. John McCain is a hero to those who have the sickest of thoughts and intentions. He now speaks for them, and in the process people may get hurt. That is why Lewis said what he said. He has been to that place, and does not want America to go back there again. |
