Fracking activity may have caused earthquakes-Ohio agency

Full story: Reuters

An Ohio state agency said on Friday there is evidence that the high-pressure injection of fluid underground related to fracking caused a series of Ohio earthquakes culminating in a New Year's Eve tremor in an area not known for seismic activity.

Thanks, GOP.

<< Hosea 10 >>
New International Version 1984

8The high places of wickednessc will be destroyed—

it is the sin of Israel.

Thorns and thistles will grow up

and cover their altars.

Then they will say to the mountains,“Cover us!”

and to the hills,“Fall on us!”

9“Since the days of Gibeah, you have sinned, O Israel,

and there you have remained.

Did not war overtake

the evildoers in Gibeah?

10When I please, I will punish them;

nations will be gathered against them

to put them in bonds for their double sin.

11Ephraim is a trained heifer

that loves to thresh;

so I will put a yoke

on her fair neck.

I will drive Ephraim,

Judah must plow,

and Jacob must break up the ground.

12Sow for yourselves righteousness,

reap the fruit of unfailing love,

and break up your unplowed ground;

for it is time to seek the Lord,

until he comes

and showers righteousness on you.

13But you have planted wickedness,

you have reaped evil,

you have eaten the fruit of deception.

Anyone with half a brain already knew this would be a consequence of fracking; many scientists warned this would happen.

A bonus is being able to light your water on fire right from the tap!

Frack away you morons.

All the seismic activity (numerous recordings over an extended period) was within one mile of a well they recently permitted higher pressure levels on.

I am waiting for some Right Winger to tell me there were earth quakes before they started fracking so that can'tbe the cause.

evidence is weak. the so-called "expert" against fracking at cornell is a marine biologist tree-hugger. the ny times has bought in to his criticisms hook, line and sinker. how about some real science in the debate? the EPA has already stated no evidence of contaminated ground water.

The occasional small quake is tolerable, but the poisoned water that catches fire is unacceptable.

Really? Have you seen the film clips of people lighting their water on fire directly from the tap?

. Earthquake specialists here in California have looked at fracking in the midwest and as yet say there no evidence either way.

Wind farms kill birds and solar panels add to global warming. Natural gas causes cancer. An electric car has a bigger carbon footprint than a gas-burning vehicles until it's traveled 80,000 miles. All forms of energy production and use is bad for the environment. Who gives a Frack anymore? We're all dependent on energy companies. Let's try to keep our money in the U.S. and let local states make decisions not the federal government.

Nuclear testing in Nevada caused seismic activity also, but did it actually do any damage to anything?

A heavy truck rolling by on a local road can cause localized seismic activity..but any real harm done?

Here in New Mexico, the Atomic Energy Commision experimented with the use of nuclear explosives for "fracking" decades ago, with no lasting ill effect:

Corporatists like states rights because state level politicians are a lot cheaper to buy the national level politicians.
