This is a thread ABOUT HISPANICS, though. Machismo IS restricted to hispanics as a cultural characteristic. It is observable and there is a boatload of independent research on it. The same characteristics are present in other cultures and it is equally repugnant. We're not talking about other countries, or thier cultures on this thread, though.

The hispanics need to drop the machismo, integrate to us, and immigrate the right way instead of just demanding that we accept them including thier prejudices.

Yes, this thread is about Hispanics. Yes, machismo exists, and in cases is prevalent, with Hispanics. But, to say that they are the only ones, or the worst ones, is disingenuous. That would be like going to a thread about Asians and saying all Asian women steal American husbands. You don't like Mexicans, fine. Just admit it and stop trying to say abuse against women will cease to exist if we just get rid of them. While you're at it, tell the Middle Eastern women, living here, who are brutally beaten, sometimes to death, by their husbands, sons, nephews, etc. that those poor Mexican women have it worse.

Aye, guey, mariachi is great...tequila, well, to each his own. All I am trying to get across is that abusing women is not just isolated to Mexicans. There is good and bad in every culture. Enjoy the good, avoid the bad. Simple as that.

I never said that all mexicans are like that. I don't stereotype and have hispanic friends. Where'd you get the idea that I don't like mexicans? I like the ones that do immigration right.

Just read a few pages and wondered if it has occurred to anyone that American born women are probably more prone to report abusive husbands or boyfriends than foreign born women?
We are not taught in this country that abuse is the norm. We are encouraged to report it while in many other countries it is discouraged and the norm to many of those women is to keep their mouths shut and take what ever is dished out. In fact, many of them are taught that they are the cause of the abusiveness and are ashamed to report it.
Would it not stand to reason that for many women who are raised with those beliefs would also carry them to this country with them and that it would take time for it to be phased out of their beliefs?
If that is the case, that would make most statistics inaccurate because if they do not report abuse, it does not become a statistic.
Just a thought.

I get that idea from your posts. You have not said one positive thing about Mexicans, or any other Hispanics. You have focused on the machismo issue. Why not focus on something that affects the taxpayers, like welfare abuse, or free education, or guaranteed workers compensation? Those are far more prevalent than machismo and you, and I, and every taxpayer suffer from those.
I am half-Mexican. Believe it or not, my Mexican family has been in this state longer than it has been a state. I've seen the machismo, but not to the extent you describe. Probably because my family are all here legally. I get offended when people lump all Mexicans together. In fact, I get offended by all stereotypes. In the future, a bit of clarification goes a long way.

The fact is that it doesn't matter the race or ethnicity of the person. Some feel they have the right to beat another human being and most don't.
