In the first half of the twentieth century, liberals were advocates of a strong Presidency and disdainful of Legislative quasi-judicial meddling in executive prerogatives. They backed FDR in his battles with the Congress and chided Eisenhower for not exerting his Presidential authority to shut down the McCarthy Congressional inquest into Communists in government.
But beginning in the 70's, liberals did a 360 degree turn and embraced Congressional quasi-judicial activity RE: Nixon, then RE: Iran-Contra and now this. So what do they want? A strong Executive or a strong Legislative branch? Guess it depends on who is sitting in the White House. |

Cleveland is going down the shit shoot and the only thing Kucinich-na-commie has on his mind is impeachment revenge. What a A-hole.

Instead of wasting time on political grandstanding. Why don't these politicians do something important. Like balancing the budget, stop giving our monry to foriegn countries, and finding alternative energy sources. Isn't that the reason they are suppose to be there for?
I don't think the problem is Bush as much as it is the Congress. We should impeach the Congress for failure to be effective. It is because of them that the Country is in the state that its in. Lets face Bush has been there for 8 years, how long have some of these people been in their positions doning nothing but collecting a paycheck and bribes from the lobbists. |

Here we go again with more wasting time. So much for all the promises they made in 2006. There won't be any impeachment, just time and money wasted.

We need to get rid of all these losers, both republican and democrat. Congress is filled with nothing but incompetent morons. What an embarrassment.

"HURRAY for Senator Kucinich", President Bush needs to be made accountable for all the lies and deception to the American people, costing us the lives (over 4,000 dead) and the crippled and wounded (over 20,000) not to mention +- a million people in Iraq killed and crippled with millions becoming displaced. This has also helped to ruin the American economy (over 4 Billion Dollars a week for over 5 years). Look what has happened to this Great Country of ours in the past 8 years.

Don't you think criminals should be exposed and punished. At least it's a start in the right direction. |
|
No, they shouldn't be exposed. We should cover our ears like Bush hides e-mail and chant "I can't hear you, I have nothing to hide, gotta trust the president", and then blame the liberal media when the republic is cleptocracy. |

Yet another democratic investigation that will waste millions and go nowhere. All these freaking idiots want to do is issue subpoenas and hold hearings. In the meantime, it's a total struggle to get any actual governing done. Hey, where's Henry Waxman? He has to be a part of this urination contest!

Anyone who things that Constitutional checks and balances are a waste of time are the ones who are really "demented." Also I must admonish this article as being highly slanted and a poor representation of the legitimate points that were made during this hearing. It seems that this article was designed to give more weight to those who thought it was a waste of time and money than to the evidence that was presented which is what the hearing was really about.

I liked Fein's injunction of Iredell's (George Washington's SCOTUS appointee) regarding the case for impeachment.
Of course, I find it telling that the Republican'ts are up in arms about the "waste of time and money" of an investigation into possible executive misgivings and high crimes and misdemeanors when its their boy in office. Of course, Ken Starr had free reign and they let a private law suit against the president go thru. It doesn't matter. In the case of torture resulting in murder, there is NO STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS and thus the president can be prosecuted once out of office for crimes committed while in office. |

I fail to see the reasonning for the reluctance on the part of the Congress to initiate impeachment hearings based on the evidence so far of blatent disregard of the Constitution and criminal activity perpetrated by the Bush administration. The only excuse so far is that they don't want to repeat the Repulican tactics against Clinton towards the end of his second term. However, I fail to see the equity of lying about a sexual affair and, just to pick one, the torture of suspected enemy combatents. The blatent disregard for the rule of law witnessed in so many actions performed by this administration is by no means comperable to those for which Clinton was held to account. It is high time we investigate the real reason for the reluctance of Nancy Pelosi to procede on the articles of impeachment put forward by Dennis Kucinich. Something stinks about this whole deal.
