It doesn't mean Obama is going to lose, but the failed attempt to recall Scott Walker gives Democrats and organized labor reason to fear an emboldened conservative agenda.

I have a question and I'm wondering if anyone can provide a serious, intelligent answer.

IF Republicans had complete control of the country:

1. what would the United States be like?
2. what things would they do to improve our country
3. what would life be like for all of us?

Be legitimate. Convince me that the Republican way is the right way.

If the Republicans showed a bit more muscle, lawyers in America would have a LOT less work. You would see legal reform plus loser pays. You would see a reduction in the number of lawsuits.
.
Many welfare programs would not be eliminated, but the approach to welfare would be different, control would be sent back to the states with block grant funding. States could tailor programs to local need.
.
Environmental laws would be written to balance the environment with economic development. Sometimes the environment will win and sometimes it will lose.
.
A smaller federal government. Billions would be saved by eliminating the federal middleman for many programs. Why send $1 to Washington, DC to get .60 back?
.
A well funded but smaller military.
.
Less tendency to use race and class warfare tactics to advance programs.
.
Encouragement of private enterprise. Less vilification of business.
Making it easier to start businesses which would restart the economy.
.
A good model might be the 1996-2000 Congress.

I don't think honest people want a Republican monopoly on power. It corrupts absolutely. Bush had both Houses and that didn't go well. It leaves half the population behind even if you do get ted kennedy to help write No Child Left Behind. I think we need to start back at some basic constraints. I'm a huge fan of almost every one of our founding fathers who were all tightwads that went to war over taxes. They saw what bureaucrats and aristocrats do to a society. The govt was never intended to provide all of these services. I have friends in the military. They tell me it's the only govt entity run well and it's a mess. The Govt. is far too big. The dept of education has completely destroyed our schools. Govt needs to consolidate and get out of the way of business. They should be an umpire, not play on the field. Who will officiate them? Onerous regs have chased all the drug companies to India, so now all the hospitals have shortages. College costs rise at triple the inflation rate, because sallie mae will lend almost any amount to almost any applicant, irregardless of their major or job prospects. If America wasn't the world's reserve currency, we'd have already been put on austerity by china, like Germany did to greece.

By coincedence, I just posited that in another post, another thread.

Under the GOP in Senate, House, White House, and Supreme Court, the USA would strongly resemble Ebanezer Scrooge's London, before his Christmas dream.
Like Bedford Falls, before Jimmy Stewart and Clarance returned to their present.

I don't think this has much to do with Obama v. Romney, frankly. It was an election about Walker and his policies, and without actual wrongdoing in office, something cited by something like 60% of Wisconsinites as the only valid reason to recall a Governor, his recall was actually kind of unlikely.

And given the huge disparity in spending (nearly 10-to-1) and the gap between the outrage of last year and the election a year later, it's kinda surprising it was as close as it was.

Doesn't hurt or help Obama, IMO.

A lot like Chicago in 1906. Simply read "The Jungle." Massive corruption by the ruling elites. Disgusting environment degradation, Workers just a replaceable cog with no rights. Jack-booted union busting thugs functioning as sworn police officers. Intense race-baiting & immigrant bashing to keep the peons fighting each other. Billy Sunday type Christo-nazi fundamentalists running the schools and leading the war on women. Big Pharma allowed to foist snake-oil dangerous medicines free from oversight & penalties. Consumer protection non-existent. Rampant medical malpractice with no patience protection or justice.

Walker Survives Wisconsin Recall Vote (June 6, 2012)

LOS ANGELES — As Wisconsin residents voted on Tuesday not to recall Gov. Scott Walker — who has become an enemy of labor unions nationwide — two California cities dealt blows of their own to organized labor.

In San Diego and San Jose, voters overwhelmingly approved ballot initiatives designed to help balance ailing municipal budgets by cutting retirement benefits for city workers.

Around 70 percent of San Jose voters favored the pension measure, while 66 percent of San Diego residents supported a similar measure....TEA PARTY WINS AGAIN....NIMKOOMPOOP!

Sean-Paul Kelley, nailed it with his tweet: "Make no mistake about it: the politics of envy won in Wisconsin and will now accelerate nationwide." https://twitter.com/seanpaulkelley/statuses/2 ...

The explanation is simple: "Those (union) guys have pensions paid for by your tax dollars. Do you have a pension? Hell, no. And now, in a time of "austerity for all" they won't give it back, or pay for it themselves. Da bastahds. Let's get 'em."

In other words, taking down the unions is the sweet side-effect for Our Betters, who really do want to destroy the last vestiges of trade unionism in the U.S.- For an excellent read on how the unions are not helping, see http://downwithtyranny.blogspot.com/2012/06/u ...

Remember, it's not envy of the rich. IT'S ENVY OF THE POOR SLOB NEXT TO YOU, the one you closely resemble, who has the extra nickel you don't. His pension (on your dime, mind you) is that extra nickel.
