Very powerful and moving remarks by President Obama, especially the story he told at the end about one friend saving another. I am so proud to have this brilliant President representing the United States of America.

Addressing the country afterwards is probably obligatory. I would just find it in bad taste to turn the event into a photo-op. Too much marketing went on in the wake of 9/11. This is too small of an event to mobilize the church groups but too large to be written off.

I guess there's a very curious question as to why a med student would go off his gourd that way. Just another one of those things that probably won't get an answer because there's ugly money and status in medicine and education nowadays. Don't bother claiming that "normal" people are the victims of stressed out nerds or something. The opposite is far closer to the truth.

I thought Obama was putting the campaigning on hold so as not to use this tragic event for a stage. He did not go there to see those family's, he went there to try to make an impression because Colorado is a swing state this year.

It is sad, sickening and disgusting to see this right-wing bastard kill so many innocent people, but it was get to see a real leader (President Obama) set the tone early this morning when he came out with such a strong and unifying statement…

It's surprising Obama isn't high-tailing it over to where those Mexicans were killed in that overloaded pick up truck accident.

Great photo op for Obama's Latino voting base, proclaiming America's open arms to the tired and poor. And sadness that some lose their lives trying to get here.

<but not mentioning the tired and poor that are already IN America>
