One-in, one-out policy at Malton Community Hospital

this is not what was said at staff info meeting....it was stated that 5 beds were being closed due to finacial cutbacks and a undetermined date of review would be arranged to see what savings had then been made before a decison is made to keep those beds closed or close more...all on one ward. The redeployment of staff within the community was discussed also if this was financially viable...already vacancies which were advertised and had applications for were then withheld and staff numbers have been reduced by shift changes and working more days with shorter hours as well as some 12hr shifts. The community needs to start asking questions now before it is too late....staff cannot provide the level of care they have previously and paperwork has to be done in own time as otherwise the patient care suffers.
