Good day to you,

I am trying to trace information on an Irene Woolgar. That is the name I knew her by. She was a frequent visitor at my adopted families home in Sussex.

Having completed a tree of my birth family on Ancestry I decided to put one on of my Adopted family. I was always told that Irene (This may have been her middle name) was the niece of my adopted fathers first wife, Helen Power. My adopted parents names were Aleck Bernard and Helene Hazel. Helen Power married Aleck hazel in 1917 at Pancreas and he was attached to the cables and Wireless in Argentina. I have traced several voyages that Aleck and Helen made together.

I believe Irene worked for Barkley's Bank. I remember spending several holidays with her on her farm in Reigate where I believe she had a dairy herd during the war years or maybe just after. I know she sold it and took off for the Argentine. Some time after she returned she lived in a bungalow complex somewhere in the south of England, possibly Sussex and I recall many visits to her there. As a young married women with 2 small girls we also used to pick her up once a year for a couple of weeks and she stayed with us. At that time she was wheelchair bound with osteoarthritis. I know she died shortly after we came to South Africa in 1981.

I have not been able to trace a record of her birth or death for that matter because I don't know her date of birth (I presume to be around 1910 - 1920) or correct name. It could be Lilly Irene Woolgar. That was the only journey I could find on the migration records that fitted the age.

Can you help me at all?

Kindest regards

Was your Lillian Woolgar related to Samuel Bridger Woolgar 1865 - 1951. Some of his family lived in Reigate. tesscawley@telkomsa.net

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Capricorn

You feel like overindulging yourself in some way today, and why not? Throw caution to the wind and eat your way through a big bar of chocolate, or have a retail therapy session that leaves you reeling from the amount of money you've spent. There's a definite chance you could get carried away and tell a whopper of a story that has little resemblance to what really happened. What on earth has got into you?
