I was employed by Willmetts and worked for them for over 5 years, both in the Windsor & Maidenhead offices. I was lucky enough to get another job, but a lot of my colleagues have not. We were a very close and friendly bunch, and I will miss everyone very much.

Does anyone know the date when the earliest claim arises from?

I worked for them for 35 years. I was hardly off sick in all that time. They never even said thanksfor your hard work over the years, we just got one day's notice. So much for loyalty.

What do you expect? It's a solicitors firm.

You spent 35 years helping them to shaft other people's arses before getting it rammed up your own in the end.

Karma in action if you ask me.

I find your comments coarse and unkind. Perhaps you could redeem yourself by apologising to the lady in question.

I wonder what your involvement with the firm was?

I did not shaft people as you seem to suggest. I was paid a megre wage in return for a hard day's work. I therefore find your comments most offensive.

Rosey Maidenhead does not warrant the comments from Kernunnos. What an unpleasant, cynical view to have.

My case has gone missing. Nobody knows where it is.
One told me the file has gone to another firm but it is not. And I have not received any letter. It is all chaotics. How can I get my deposit back, in the worst case that I have to start all over again?
And my vendor is threatening to find another buyer if I don't exchange soon.

God there are some sick people out there eh rose, who know nothing about the situation as they didn't work there! We have our good and bad memories, and had very good working relationships with both clients and staff. Its a shame Willmetts is no more, but life goes on and hopefully we will look back and remember the good times, rather than the bad.

Gilbert is not the sole reason that this firm has collapsed. The greed and mismanagement of all the equity partners, over the preceeding years left no monies in the bank for a recession.

Ask yourselves why 28 members of staff were made redundant (a year before Gilbert resigned) and why remaining staff were put on a 4 day week with 20% pay cuts a few months after these redundancies? At each point, the partners told staff that if they took these measures, the firm would be fine and the staff rewarded for helping the partners through a rough time......

Also note that whilst 60 or so employees are now jobless, Powe had lined himself up a job at Browns in Marlow and Berryman at Fergusson Bricknell in Oxford, knowing that the firm they had help ruin was closing. So much for being honest and rewarding their staff!

A rather cleverly worded press release blames Gilbert and uses him as a scapegoat, as this was easier than admitting that they were ALL responsible for the collapse of the firm!
no surprise really

I, unfortunately had dealings with Powe, a true arrogant man who was immediately dislikeable. Quite amazed that he had a career at all.
He once informed me I had no chance of getting any mortgage as there was an order on the property that hadnt been satisfied (some 6 years after it had been satisfied). His letter was quite nasty considering I was his client. I spent two days dealing with the bank in question, sorted all the paper work out (which was his job) had the order notice lifted/satisfied and got my mortgage no thanks to Powe. His branch was one of the most inept, provincial solicitors Ive ever had the misfortune to deal with. Saying that they did have a chap in Windsor, Mr A Miller who was tremendous and always had time for you.

re: Drogbas Dentist's question about why the partnership has ceased trading if it is only the 1.35m claim that is on the table: I've been wondering about this as well. All seems very strange.
Can someone explain?
Can someone also clarify something else I don't understand: what is likely to happen to Jonathan Gilbert? Is he being investigated by the SFO? For how long had he been in cahoots with Entwistle and did he think he could get away with it?

So let me get this straight.
You have lost your jobs?
you have been shafted out of money?
You know who's responsible?
You know where they live?
So instead of going round there and kicking them and their property's to pieces, you are all moaning about it on Topix.
Pussy's of the highest order.Thats the middle classes for you, always need someone to do the sh1tty work for them.
That really is Karma at work for you!
