The USCCB film office praises "The Golden Compass", which Philip Pullman says was written to undermine Christianity (especially the "Magisterium", the teaching office of the Catholic Church), for rejecting authoritarianism?
No doubt. This is what Catholics have to put up with these days: liberal Protestants who embed themselves in middle management in order to undermine the Church.("The books are against the Magisterium? So are we!")

The ironic thing is that in the real world it's the Magisterium which opposes the torturing of unborn children, and Philip Pullman and the Secularist Establishment oppose the Magisterium in part because it tries to protect the unborn children.

And oh, in the last Harry Potter book the Voldemort-controlled media tries to give everybody the idea that Harry's mentor Dumbledore was a pedophile--in order to discourage anyone who might be tempted to resist Voldemort's evil, someone explains to an angry Harry.

The "Roman" Church has it issues. No doubt. As an Anglican (US Episcopalian) we don't get caught up in the old Roman laws and the bureauacracy of those said laws. Unborn children???? Ok, I am against abortion, but I am also against having a RC priest take advantage physically and sexually of those "unborn". Got it?

There is a reason for the Protestant Churches. After centuries, It still holds true.

It is about GOD, His SON THE CHRIST. Not about old men walking around in rich garbs and driving in sedans when the world could use their riches for the betterment of humankind.

Thank you Lord for you servant Martin Luthur who called it the "right way".

Peace.
