Archbishop seeks to prevent split

“If anybody can do it, then somebody of the intellectual stature of Rowan Williams could”

It wasn't just a friendly invitation. U.S. Episcopal bishops, fed up with Anglican criticism of their support for gay priests, implored the Anglican spiritual leader to hear their side of the story -- in ... via Hawk Eye

"ARCHBISHOP OF CANTERBURY WILL LEAD SECRETIVE COMMUNION FOR HOMOSEXUALS"

We can see where the AOC's true feelings are .... this really helps set the tone of the NOLA meeting!!!

It is truely amazing at how out of touch the Archbishop is .... It is definitely time for him to move on ....

Hartley, you are full of divisive baloney!

But, tell me, friend, do you find yourself to be aligned with and accepting of the authority and oversight of Rev. Peter Akinola?

What a church! Canterbury wants money from the USA for their programs. The American church wants the name of the Anglican Communion to support MoveOn.org and the "progressive" elements of the Democratic Party. One thing is clear: Jesus upset the tables of the money changers and did well without the temple.

Schism is now appropriate. When American membership, which represents only a few percent of the Anglican Communion, knows they have been thrown out, they will ask why and not settle for spin. The central issue is not single-sex relationships, it is political control of the Church.

Dear CGN,
Issues of segregation and discrimination against perceived minorities, such as GLBT issues, are legitimate and they exist at the core of our perceptions of ourselves as human beings. Therefore, they deserve our full attention to find reasonable ways of regard for each other.

Also, such issues effectively strain the boundaries of traditional biblical interpretations, which have relied on literal guidelines for behavior under the "Letter of the Law." But, we are guided by Christ's example and teaching to be guided by the "Spirit of the Law." The two can be and often have been different. The present schismatic problem is defined by the difference between these interpretations about what is the best way to proceed.

But, you are also right in pointing out the extent to which politics and money are driving the argument.

2Co 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

Rom 1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves:
Rom 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
Rom 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
Rom 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet.
Rom 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

Interesing, Mr. Jackson, that you find God's word to be, "off topic," when it clearly is right on point and very much the topic at issue in our church.
