Isn't there a much simpler solution - put a weight limit on the bridge....? Lorries who use this road as a 'short cut' into Exeter will have to use a more sensible route (link road and motorway) and the bus companies can use the little 'hopper' buses like the ones in Exeter (especially as the bigger buses are almost empty anyway). This would then have an added bonus for those of us who would like to actually drive above 30 mph on the stretches of the road which are subject to the national speed limit.... and also cut down on the road damage caused by huge lorries trundling up and down. Job done!
