It's a good message, but...

It would be better received if the people that were promoting it didn't look so crunchy and dirty. I look at the photo of the people playing guitars and I realize that I don't take hippies seriously.

"crunchy and dirty"? maybe they consider you stiff and sterile... there should be more events held in this area to promote holistic, artistic and realistic lifestyles!

Wonderful! Let's spread this notion to every schood district in Pennsylvania. I'm sending the article to Adams County school districts. Thank you, Tony Geraci, for your foresightedness and bravery and success.

Sorry, but looking dirty, unkempt, and like a homeless person is not what I consider a "realistic" lifestyle. To each his own, but I don't take someone who looks that way seriously. If anything, my first impression will get in the pay of the message they are trying to present.

If you want to be taken seriously, you need to show that you care about yourself.

Peace, love, and hair grease, man.

I am truly wondering where you see dirty in these photographs. I see an adorable little girl hula hooping, three lovely ladies dancing and two musicians entertaining. None of these people look dirty to me in the least.

As for "not taking hippies seriously"...don't judge a book by it's cover. You may be surprised.

The musicians look unkempt to me.

Like I said in a previous posting, I applaude the message. Buying local foods and supporting local farmers is a laudable goal. The fact of the matter though, is that the message is lost when people don't present themselves in a clean, well groomed manner. That's one reason why the Legalize drug folks never can get their point across. It's a matter of perception. If you don't look trustworthy and professional, your message is lost in the distraction of your appearance.

Bro-

All of the folks pictured were guests visiting (except Stephanie O'Brien, who was in charge of the children's Passport Adventure activity at the event-Thank You Stephanie!)...

So, I fail to see how the message is lost due to a few photos of the patrons.

Perhaps next time we can suggest to the photographer and reporter to please ensure they represent the event well, not only with the fun elements of the event (dancing, playing) but also of our very important speakers, demonstrators and exhibitors.

Perhaps next year you could come and visit our event and see that everyone who attends is not a "dirty and unkempt"...

This idiot poster probably eats loads of chemical food, uses products filled with strange toxic ingredients, and has no friends due to being so judgemental...Go back to working your slave job for the "man", buying into the corporate American regime, and being a miserable person...Anyone who goes to Spoutwood has a wonderful time and the positivity of the events far outweighs the opinion of someone who obviously has no life, friends, or woman....

And now we here from the paranoid, anti-capitalist, self-hater who probably has repressed mommy/daddy issues and low self-esteem because he/she/it is unqualified to hold a job beyond bag checker at a grocery store.

Maybe, if you would pull your judgemental head out of your unwashed rear end you would look at what was written and realize that my comment was quite logical. If you want to get a message across to mainstream America - and YOU are not mainstream if you look unwashed and unkempt- then you have to APPEAL to the mainstream. You do that by looking, acting, and using rational arguments.

The message is rational. Eat local, eat healthy. Great message. Love it. I practice it. It's a voluntary choice- can't force people to do it (though you probably would love to force feed people what you consider healthy). You will not get people to listen to your msg if all they perceive is Dirty, smelly, crunchy, commie pinko punks. Oh- and Hollywood is out as a messanger since most acotrs/actresses are too stupid to do anything other then spout off far leftist talking points.

Oh- and pesticides and fertilizers are great for use in agriculture in reasonable amounts. Just wash your food well. Communism is bad (Soviets lost in case you hadn't noticed). The "man" pays me money so I can drive my SUV at high speeds (paranoia is bad- you can get that treated BTW).

Better media management would be best. I'm sure it was a fun time- just pointing out that the organizers/movement(?) have a major perception issue with the public.

And you will never get mainstream acceptance unless the crunchies are hidden and people look less like refugees from the 1960's/70's communes and more <poor choice of words here> fashionable.

Driving an SUV is fun. Tearing down back roads is relaxing. Occasionally a small animal gets flattened, but hey, we're in York. Roadkill is organic.

Sure its Organic.

The metal from the bullets comes from the ground
The people who get shot become food for the eartworms & flies- giving back to Nature.
Gunpowder is made from carbon, sulfur, and saltpeter (all organic compounds)
The bullets create wind as they fly through the air, providing circulation to Nature.
Blood is a all natural fertilizer.
The combustion produces carbon dioxide which benefits plants.
The heat from the combustion prevents global cooling and will save use from glaciers

I did hit a squirrel yesterday. Made the funniest sounding thump when it's head got cracked.

Next week- I'm aiming for something endangered.

You all do realize that eating an organic diet has been proven to be no healthier than a diet full of processed foods. The only difference is the cost you incur. As long as you eat a balanced diet it wont matter whether the food is fresh, frozen or canned. That is also part of the reason that we as a country will never be able to live a locally grown diet and live that kind of life style. What are you going to do in Feb when you cant get local produce in Pa? No tomatoes, greens, or fruits for 100's of miles. How about local fish in the winter? We went past the point of no return long ago and there is no going back. We will never live a European lifestyle in America and its because we want it all and we want it now.
