Edinburgh castle is worth a visit! It is a great day out and very affordable. It is open all year round too.

Thanks! i think i will go for sure now this summer. Is there anything else you or anyone else suggests i do ? I have been to the festival before which was amazing! Lots of street acts and shows. Also Henna Tattooing and Hair braiding.

The festival is a lot of fun. Very busy though, possibly a bit TOO busy. Other ideas for you off the top of my head would be Camera Obscura which is on the street leading up to the castle. I took my children there and they exceedingly enjoyed it. Also the National Museum is worth a look. It is very large and takes the best part of a day to go around.

I noticed you were looking for activities within Edinburgh to do over the summer. I would recommend Dynamic Earth. It is on Holyrood Road and is great for all ages. It takes you on a journey throught time which includes a volcanic erruption!

Thank you! i will look into the attractions mentioned and hopefully manage to do them this summer. They sound very good! A few years ago i went on a tour of Mary Queens Close. Has anyone heard of this and if so is it still running ? I did one at night and would love to do it again but maybe this time during the day.

It's better now than it used to be. Relatives visited it last year and said it was great.
