we haven' been able to get people to change to metrics... change the language in any way? Yeah, right... as for the spelling, people now don't care..they spell it any old which way they can think of

There is something to be said for simplifying english spelling and making it more rational. The spelling used by the founding fathers is more phoenetic, and it puzzles me that things got worse since then--and gave those bitter, elderly women in the grade school faculty something to torture me with.

We only started the conversion in 1976... I think the slowness is a conspiracy between snapon and sears to make us buy twice as many wrenches. Metric is sort of defacto happening here now due to everything we buy being made overseas. |

Changing to metric: Most Brit Commonwealth nations hav changed in to it in recent decades. In addition, menny of them hav changed to decimal currency, after struggling with poumds, shillings, and pence for a century or two.
Change can, and dus happen! Spelling's turn next! |
