I was the person who called 999. I have to say that the GP who helped this surfer needs considerably more praise than she has been given in the press. I helped her in the water to drag the man to the shore. Without hesitation she gave him mouth to mouth treatment, unprotected despite lots of blood, all that after a physically demanding effort to drag him out of the water. She resuscitated him, made him alive again and she is a real hero.

Steve – thank you for calling 999 and helping drag Neil out so quickly. The GP was amazing indeed, considering the amount of blood coming out of his mouth (he had bitten his tongue we later found out) she consistently and rapidly cleared his airways as much as possible and administered CPR until as you say he was revived (or breathing at least). If she didn’t act so quickly he would sure as hell have been dead right now. The GP certainly deserves a medal, she never for a second gave up!!

He is currently in Intensive care in a stable but still critical condition. He's in good hands under specialist care.

Everyone has there fingers crossed and is saying their prayers for him! He’s a special guy, a fighter and true survivor…..we hope his fitness and physical / mental strength will see him pull though.

Thank you both, and the lifeguards so, so very much!!!

Daily Horoscope for January 6

Taurus

Try to keep your energy a little bit more under control. If you scatter in all directions, you'll end up hot and bothered. Mars tends to rev up your engine, but an awkward aspect to Saturn will make everything go in stops and starts. As soon as you try to shift into higher gear you meet immovable objects at the moment, so the solution is to slow down. There are wonderful, uplifting influences hanging around as well as tricky ones, so just hang in there.
