Merciful release is such bs..where was Abdelbaset Ali's mercy when he commited an act of terrorism that resaulted in deaths of innocent people?..but he deserves mercy?..right..

No. This is showing the muslim world that "we" were wrong that "we" are apologizing (dismissive, derisive, arrogant"), bowing, closing Gitmo, prosecuting those who "terrorized" the terrorists in prisons, and releasing this Lockerbie guy.

Scotland has HAD prisoners that have DIED in prison for lesser crimes. Scotland has refused compassionate release for other prisoners. Not this guy.

It's a tactic. A plan, to apologize, mass mea culpa and a try to get the muslims to police the crazies amongst them.

Have they inspected Iran's nukes? Yep! Why is that?....becuz of all the bending over and accomodations to show the muslims we mean no harm.

Just remember: this country was SAVED from another planned hijacking in CA,bombing of the Brooklyn Bridge, captured other terrorists, bombing a highrise apartment building and gave the US a picture of the hierarchy of the terrorist organization.

Loren he was a fall guy...there were more people involved only no one could prove it.The justice system in Scotland allows anyone with a terminal illness to die at home on compasionate grounds,thats the law and we cant do anything about it. Its the same with your government they send your troops to fight in wars that are not your concern....nuthin you can do about it.

What did the Obama admin know about this before the release and why didn't they intervene or intercept?

Or perhaps it is his family who deserve mercy, to be with their father/brother/husband/son when he dies. Does Megrahi’s convicted but questionable involvement in Lockerby mean the innocent don’t deserve mercy?

The fact remains Megrahi did not get a jury trial. Of course I was not there on the day so I don’t know what Megrahi was doing but I can say there appears to be reasonable doubt from what I’ve read.

The prosecution’s main witness perhaps being paid $2 million to testify Megrahi did it??? That’s highly irregular and enough to create doubt in my mind.

The multiple people testifying they were encouraged by the CIA to give particular evidence? Again highly irregular and creates doubt.

And we must all remember it’s not about ‘I reckon he done it’, it’s about being convinced beyond any reasonable doubt the evidence is correct and the evidence shows he did it.

Had there been a jury trial, and had the many irregularities been pointed out to the jury, it seems at least possible some of them would also have reasonable doubts remaining.

It's worse than his being a fall guy. Information of prosecutorial misconduct surfaced recently, and the guy could have appealed his sentence. He may have gotten his release after that on even more favorable terms.

It was another case of colonial over-reach in that trial, and what Western governments or the corporate media say is not to be accepted uncritically.

the lockerbie bomber MURDERED 273 americans, and by letting him go like they did, the scotish government pretty much said that his life was more valuable than those of the 273 americans.

I hope our government remembers this in their future dealings with scotland. if they don't, it should be obvious - they are not representing us. and need to be replaced.
