BEWARE ! Businessmen and diplomats have warned that investing in Ukrainka is becoming more dangerous due to state-sanctioned 'corporate raiding'. It can involve a van-full of balaclava-wearing men breaking into your office one morning to tell you that you are no longer the owner. In extreme cases it can involve people shooting at your staff. Most victims are small-and-medium-sized Ukrainian firms in the agricultural sector. But big foreign companies are not immune. A gunman in Dnipropetrovsk in late 2009 fired a hunting rifle at a Toyota carrying three managers from Arcelor Mittal. The Indian steel giant has been battling local oligarchs in the courts ever since it bought the Kryvorizhstal mill in an open tender for $5 billion in 2005. Now, do we want these hoodlums in EU ? I would say, not a fat chance. UKRAINKA STAY OUT of EU !

Attention folks. Balaclava wearing gangs of hoodlums await your investments in Ukrainka. When you prosper, they come to rob you or even better with the help of authorities you are no longer the owner. Now, are these the dogs that want to be part of EU ?

Are these peasants trying to out do greeks. Plenty of greeks living in Mariupol so perhaps they learned few tricks from them although ouzo is not sold in Kiev.

While the Party of Misfits are in power, Europe should not accept an associate agreement. Let Yanukovich lose the next Parliamentary election and get some new blood into power. Real reforms are required. Yes the dogs in power should be culled.

Suggested policy to improve the Topix Forum: When it comes to Pissy, The Fish-faced Finn, Comrade Cassandra, or Uther (the Four Topix Stooges)-- don't read, don't rate, don't respond. They do not have anything of substance to say anyway. It will drive them crazy to think that their "Pearls of Wisdom" are falling in empty space (if they even have the brains to realize that nobody gives a big rat’s behind what they say).

Hostile takeovers and questionable business deals? This is not unique to Ukraine. You will find these in any country where people want to get ahead. It is a result of greed. I was going to say tht this is true of anywhere except managed economies such as the old Soviet Union but then I realized that it was also rampant there but under a different set of lables. It is part of the human equation and we all just have to learn to deal with it. Finger pointing and name calling will not change anything. However, it DOES let some people who feel inferior (whether they are or not) bolster their fragile little egos. Consider the sources and ignore them.

Raiding is a form of hostile take-over in which someone from those hoodlums bribes or blackmails courts to enforce a bogus claim against a profitable business. Would you invest in Ukrainka ? Ukrainka is a dive full of crooks.
