What did the members of the studio audience think when Whoopi used the word not once but THREE TIMES knowing she'd be bleeped? She doesn't realize the word is as offensive to some whites as it is to some blacks and people of all other colors.

Why is Whoopi not being fined or punished like Don Imus was?

Were any of them so offended they got up to leave or boo? Or were they prohibited by Bill Geddie who obviously only cares about ratings?

Well, this isn't the America we used to have. We are being controlled more and more. We can't say the "n" word (which i don't and never did like it) and the blacks can. And they talk about killing or jumping anyone who say's it to someone. they say, "You won't say it to a group of us because you know what will happen." That's a mob action. If we did that to the blacks for calling us "cracker" we'd be racist, vigilantes. It's so stupid and i think we are getting to the point slowly where we aren't going to take it anymore. So let the games begin. This comes from a person who was raised to not be racist. I'm not going to be stupid enough to keep taking the crap. Especially since i saw what happened to Dog The Bounty Hunter, Michael Richards & Don Imus.

Come on now. I get tired of people that act like the "n" word applies to any person of any race. We all know what race to which the word applies.

Well, if you are saying you will get a bunch of blacks nearby and jump the person then you better make it good because we are about to fight back. Smith and Wesson will do nicely. tired of being unappreciated, you never good enough complainers. We are as bad as our wepons of defense too and ours are registered where yours are probably not.

the squeaky wheel gets the oil and yours has squeaked long enough and no amount of oil seems good enough. We are starting to squeak too now. Never thought it would have to come to this with me. When i read how blacks could not use white fountains and other horrible things were done to them i felt so bad for them. I wanted to help make things better. I have lost my zeal because these young ones don't want equality. They want to whine and whine and rap about why they whine. Ugh!!!

As I said, anybody can say anything they want but be ready for the consequences. As from the three PUBLIC PERSONALITIES you named well, they got the consequences the situation called for. Now, if their context was in a general conversation about the subject itself they probably would not have been thrown under the bus by their respective club or station. If you slur a ethnic group or culture by THEIR standards just expect a response. N *gger, Sp i*, Ky *e do offend some minorities when it comes from the majority it's that simple. I guess the race conversation will not move forward until the offended are ready for it....and some just aren't ready, it's like the rapist can't tell the raped how to feel once the deed has been done how fair is that.

people seem to relish calling Elizabeth clueless, yet this tiny sensitive little blond stands up for herself DAILY infront of three or four professional bullies. I am quite amazed by her courage. I personally couldnt take the insults...and she did it pregnant? I loved her in Survivor and I love her now. I don't agree with all her politics but I sure admire her courage

Elisabeth has A VERY POOR AGENT who has allowed Elisabeth to show her true colors and she is not liked! The viewing audience is really hard to fool. We see how untalented and overpaid Elisabeth is and on top of that she annoys the vast majority. Elisabeth has some nerve to keep showing her face where she is not wanted. She was voted THE WORST INTERVIEWER by AOL!

You sure do lie! First of all, she is a BLEACHED BLONDE. Her hair is as unreal as she is. I have concluded Elisabeth is a highly manipulative, ambitious, money-hungry woman who can cry at a drop of a hat in an attempt to get sympathy. Or, she is really so angry and hostil and trying to repress it so that it comes out in watery eyes!

Her dress is as unprofessional as she is most of the time....very inappropriate for daytime tv and most of the clothes she wears are suited only for the beach or a nightclub. She actually looks like a hooker a lot of the time. She'd be the kind hanging with Bush and the oil group, or in hotel bars and lounges... the kind politicians and businessmen frequent and were managed by the madam who supposedly committed suicide by hanging!

Her behavior during her pregnancy was juvenile and quite disgusting imo....baring her naked belly, all the talk about her boobs, breastfeeding etc. NO ONE CARES about her or her kids and she needs to stop talking about them. Grace, especially, sounds like quite a brat if not disturbed on some level but no wonder with Elisabeth for a mother! She seems to want attention all the time and stops at nothing to get it as evidenced by going on Survivor!

Her bench warming husband should make enough to support his family but guess not and maybe the guy makes her continue working as he wants the paycheck!

Now wait a minute farting cloud, you missed my point and you obviously think that I am not black, but I am. I can also prove that I have enough Indian blood in my system to qualify for whatever handouts are given to Indians.

None of this means anything to me. Whether my ancestors were brought here on slave ships or driven into reservations, it has little or no bearing in what I do with my life today. Everything I said was to make a point that people need to stop making excuses.

Another example - If a two year old child say "cracker", he is usually talking about a saltine. Whereas, if a fifty year old black man says "cracker", he may be talking about a saltine or he may be talking about a racist white person.
Depending on who is saying any word will oftentimes determine the word’s meaning.
I've heard many negros call white people "crackers" and not all of them were racists. Why is it that you think , in your example, the white person must be racisit?

The reason she is not being fined or fired is because she was discussing the word and not calling someone that word. If you watch the View today Whoopi said that she was given a list(long) of words not to say and the n-word wasn't on the list.

Ok this is shocking. Color does matter to Africans. Please dont read this or go to this site. It seems that albino africans. Which are white skinned are hunted down and killed for their body parts to be used by witch doctors.

If you want to see why we should not tolerate at all any differences in the color of a persons skin this is probably a good reason go look its true.

Whoopi and others like her really are not thinking adhead to what using language like that means.

Martin Luther King fought hard and died for racial equality. She is sitting back this cause by nearly 100 years. Not a good thought.

We white Americans feel the same way. We sometimes might like to use it in an endearing way, but that isn't at all possible because so many Black folks are offended when they hear it coming from a white person. You say it's different coming from a Black person. So you are wrong, it has nothing to do with HOW it's said. It has to do with WHO says it. Even if we said it in the sweetest possible way, Admit it, you would still find it offensive. Why must you always judge us only by the color of our skin, Friend? Many many years ago the Word was in common use in some circles...(In Fact, One poster says it is still commonly used in some parts of the South, and by both races, Oh Well).... as were a lot of other words later made popular by that old TV Show "All In The Family". Some people even took Archie's act on the show, to represent how white people actually behaved. Even before that time (when I was very young) I happened to think that the term was interchangeable with and just a different pronunciation of the word Negro. I was told very early though, by my parents that the word was offensive and of course I didn't use it around my Black friends. I didn't use it much at all, for that matter. What really puzzles me is, if the word is offensive why are You or any, or, might I say many, Black people trying to have the word make a comeback? That doesn't make sense at all, to me, or to Bill Cosby.
Honestly speaking I don't care who says it, be you white, black, purple or pink, its how its said to me personally. However, you are right, there are people who don't wanna hear a white person say it because of the pain associated with the ignorant version, the pain that still affects this society to this day that know one want to acknowledge. Once society learns that sterotypes are myths and not the actual way that us black folk operate. So many white folk fear blacks because of things that they thought or saw on T.V., but if they sat down and talked to a person of color they would realize that we are all people with feelings and we all want the same thing. Our families to be happy, not be critisized for past indifferences or false convitions and fears.

I work in a high school as a teacher. I understand
both sides re: Whoopi and Elizabeth. I see many of our African American students use the "n" word to eachother. Though, in addition, since 'hip-hop' music and 'gangsta' language...Most students, whatever race, accept that language throughout the school to communicate with eachother. It's ALL GOOD!! If it works for the students with total love, respect and friendship with one another..what's the prob?

Keep it on the DL..be chillin and stillin..and most importantly "keep it real"!! cheee..
