Full story: WJW Fox 8 Cleveland

This poor woman has been in the hospital since this happened in February 2009. I've never met her, but I think she has to be one very tough lady.

This is harsh-the damn thing basically ripped her face and hands off from what I had read.

She must be amazingly tough-and it must be scary to go thru all that only to end up blind etc.

Is this oprah going a bit too far? OR-is it a way for the woman to make some money and maybe help herself out?

Sad bizarre story.

The victim has my complete sympathy, but this is simply barbaric exploitation.
If Oprah wants to help, her pockets are plenty deep. The best charity is quiet.

I agree with you on this. To help the woman-rather than sink so low as to expose her horrible experiences and to capitalize on her circumstance...she could start a charity or just dig down and throw a few million her way to assist with bills etc.

I dont know-seems that the poor woman couldnt be healed physically or mentally and that this is a shitty way to get ratings.

I agree this is sick to put her on TV, If Oprah wants to help she can donate, or just say here is a PO box, it will be filled up the next day with letters on encouragement and money.

What are you people thinking about? Oprah is a talk show and she has the opportunity to make the public aware of things that we know nothing of.She helps plenty of people by bringing people on that have experienced thing that we could not imagine . There are all kinds of accidents and diseases that we could not imagine. We sometimes think that we have problems and then she brings someone on that has bigger issues than we do. They come on not because she pays them as much as they want to come on the show. They show us that God can help you through anything. It helps us to appreciate life and to not to take things for granted. So if you think that this lady should not come on you all should call the Cleveland Clinic where she is and TELL HER THIS!!!!.

Oh come on, this is fat Oprah milking the ratings cow. She is exploiting anyone she can, I can already visualize the patronizing look that she passes off as sympathy.

I will be tuning in. This story is very interesting. I think Michael Jackson's chimp ripped his nose off too.

There was a show like that on TV long ago. The woman with the biggest sob story was "Queen for a Day," and usually got a new washing machine.
It is raw exploitation of the worst sort.

It sounds like it's a ratings booster to me, but maybe Oprah will help get the word out to the loonies out there who think animals are people. I think Oprah should also do a show about the increasing number of folks whose houses are condemned because they've so kindly "rescued" dozens and dozens of animals they don't know what to do with. Animals deserve kindness and should never be abused, but it just sickens me to see how so many people act nowadays, like the woman who owned this chimpanzee. She slept with him for God's sake--drank wine with him...that woman has something terribly wrong with her, if she has to turn to a chimp to have a relationship that should be reserved for other HUMAN BEINGS.

Okay, I have something to say so tune in: If Charla Nash didn't want to go public on the Oprah Show, she could decline! No body is forcing her to be on the program so if you do not approve than change the channel that day. Simple really, mind your own beeswax and you are just jealous that Oprah has such massive bank!!!!!! Everybody and their little opinions...blah blah blah.

Who's forcing her to appear? I'm sure we won't see her "face".
Maybe she WANTS to talk about it.

The victim is in the process of suing the chimp's owner (for $50 million I believe) AND
the state of CT for $150 million.
