HU project examines perceptions of black men

My perception of a black man is the same as any other man. Moral, civil, responsible, diligent, self-supporting, family man, etc. Now, my perception of a thug or perp is a WHOLE different thing and it doesn't apply to any particular race either. In SE Va, the majority of violent crimes are committed by young blacks (can't call them 'men') more than any other race. I'm sure there are as many problems with other races depending on locality.

No study needed. Simply watch the news, and perceptions can be made. Facts speak for themselves.

I beleive I'll stick with the Burglary ticket.

Why not just go to the crime web sites and check the facts? If one is to go on perception and media, then one can infer that the majority of serial killers, child molesters and child murderers are whites, whose women are sex starved trollops, who, lately, seem to have come down with a virulent strain of jungle fever. Anyone with sense knows that you can't judge a whole race by the actions of a few, or can you? Think about it.

This is overdue. Too many times the stories of men doing what they are required and willing to do to support their children and lead their families go unreported. Stories like this are overshodowed by the morass confronting black men in the employment, education, and healthcare. I look forward to hearing the stories of these men.

If you don't think perception can be controlled to present someone else's reality, then you are too trusting of the producers and the directors shaping the images you see everyday. I can tell you that most of what you'll see on the news is one of four shots: the "MUG" Shot, Hands in the Front, Hands in the Rear, or the illiterate commentary. That doesn't represent the whole of the diaspora but one could easily come to that conclusion if all you did was watch the news.

HU doing a study on black perception is like the media doing an "unbiased" assessment of George Bush, both slanted.

Black perception!!!???? What??? Hahahahahahahaha!!!! Rolling on the floor laughing. We don't need a study. They do all the "perceptin" we need every night and day on the news. Thugs, wife killers, thieves, killers, gang members, welfare hos and other thug life qualities that the black community seems to embrace. Black perception - give me a break! If they want to improve the perception, quit the anti-social behavior, get a job, stop having welfare babies, stop shooting people, dress appropriately, and learn to speak English for Gods sake!

(eg: You and your wife/husband are parked in the Regal Cinema Parking Lot* at around 1000pm. You'v just been to a movie. Your car is approached by four young African Americans. Describe what will happen in the next five minutes.)

*This Cinema is located on a major thoroughfare in what would be described as a well lit 'nice' commercial area. There is a strip mall 200 hundred yards away,a middle school, a Red Lobster, and a Chili's.

Wow, more that 1/2 for a minority group. Impressive perception. So if you take the total estimated number of people in each group you come up with what? 1 in xx blacks commit a crime and 1 in xx whites commit a crime. Juuuut curious !

I discover the 4 young men are actually missionaries giving out bibles and accepting donations for the church....One happens to be a Phd. of Divinity and the others are bishops and lay pastors. I feel fortunate to make their acquaintance....

Well Methos, total US Homicides for 2005 were 15,614.

Using the 52.2% would mean 8150.5 homicides for Blacks

Using the 45.8% would mean 7151.2 for Whites

Using the census (2000) data this would equate to 1 in 446.84 blacks commiting murder and 1 in 30,334.9 whites for the same crime.

Just for those that want to know census listed Caucasions at 216,930,975 and Blacks at 36,419,434

I think a more meaningful statistic would be an evaluation by gender and age group. Although these numbers infer the approx 500:30000 ratio, it may turn out that within the age group of 15 to 30 years of age it works out differently. The hypothesis should be that the violent criminal rate within this age group, adjusted for population size, is or is not approximately equal.

Wouldn't it be surprising if it turned out that ALL young males in this age group were in fact of equal propensity for violent criminality?

Bottom line is, we have to be careful with statistical analysis methods. Often the numbers can be made to infer something that isn't true. Carefully define the conditions and methods and you will get the answer with a defined probability of being correct.

Lets see, first it was don't let the media stter you wrong, look up the facts. So, now I look up the stats, use factual numbers (not polls) to show a direct relationship to race versus homicide. Now, you want to twist the figures to determine implied ratios not derived from raw, factual data.

Humor me, twist the numbers to your liking, I'm sure you can find all the data needed on the DOJ website, it is after all public record.

By the way, as you browse the census demographic, in relation to violent crime, I would also like to hear your twist as to why when the percentage of "African Americans" increases in any given city, the total for violent crime also increases by an equal ratio.

Given the large number of blacks already in prison it's amazing that the remaining blacks can commit so many crimes. But then again just watch the news. No perceptions just plain hard facts. A large majority of young black males dress like hoods, act like hoods and speak like hoods. A majority can't speak, read or write English. A majority have absolutely no skills needed to be a productive member of society.

The fact is Blacks have been and are nothing more than a cancer on American society. They require huge amounts of public aid just so they can exist in their sub-society.

So forget perceptions. Blacks themselves present the picture for all to see.

Your argument is only true for the bleeding heart liberals like yourself. You can rearrange the facts to sugar-coat your defense of these sub-human animals. Rational people see right through you. By the way, how many of these people have you had to dinner at your house and play with your kids? Why do so many liberals live in gated communities? Just wondering.
