Police say Texas councilwoman interfered in arrest
A City Council member is accused of interfering with police officers conducting an arrest last week outside a gas station, according to a police report obtained by the Houston Chronicle.

I hope they charge her with interfering with an arrest. If the police arrested the man for a warrant, they then had the right to search the car, incident to arrest; and I suspect were legally able to search the trunk per their impound policy.

Another example of someone sticking their nose in where they don't belong. The councilwoman should have made a complaint through the established chain of command, if she felt the officers acted incorrectly. That is why the police department has a chief of police!! Bad combination... a lawyer who is a politician!!
