Who cares!! Why don't they print news about Las Cruces, we're always hearing about El Paso and all this other crap that has nothing to do with our city. Keep us informed on what is happening here!!!

I had the exact same sentiments when I saw it. That, coupled with the almost daily updates of what's going on with the space shuttle. Whoever adds all these "news" flashes throughout the day has a real hard-on for NASA.

It may have to do with the NASA employees who live and work in Las Cruces....

Yeah, well in the three hours since I made that comment there have been 3 new articles posted related to the shuttle and space travel. Lots more going on in the world than up-to-the-minute updates on a NASA space craft.

Then there would be nothing to make fun of. All the other papers in town have professionally written articles that cover all the rules of journalism and are virtually free of typographical errors and grammatical clusterf*cks.

Even the janitors at Cape Canaveral perk up when 'NASA' crosses their radar. Everyone of them wanted to be an astronaut and just having the emblem embroidered on their uniform brings them great joy.

LC is a champion at hanging on to any coat tails they have shared air space with, just let them think it really makes a difference to their place in this world.

As to the article: These comdedians played some bit parts on a show that is a good distraction. Maybe they will find work on MadTV. Their time will come when they more resemble a public figure that has fallen from grace.

Very original suggestion!

How about Sun-News act as a responsible media source and provide relevant material to its consumers? I know you are probably in bed with one of the "reporters" (I use the term loosely) but if you really think this is newsworthy you should probably find somewhere else to read your news so that your demand for "news" isn't factored into reasonable people's.

A little research into what NASA facilities are around Las Cruces would go a long way with you. Your ignorance on the subject, which you seem to think you know all about makes me worry about the faith of our country.

8:35 PM, 9/1/09, Update: Communications interrupted by bad weather (UPDATED at 9:35 p.m.; storm over Guam, not New Mexico, NASA says

Bad weather at a Guam ground station interrupted communications through one of NASA's Tracking and Data Relay System satellites Tuesday. As a result, space-to-ground communications were interrupted for about a half hour. Spacewalkers Nicole Stott and Danny Olivas were told to delay retrieving two experiment packages until communications can be restored.

"We're going to lose you guys in about a minute and a half, we've lost a TDRS, and we're going to be LOS for 30 minutes, three zero," mission control radioed. "We're going to hold off on the EUTEF and the MISSE items that require the power inhibits, but you can go ahead and do the photos for EUTEF and MISSE during the LOS (loss of signal)."

"We copy," astronaut Patrick Forrester replied from the shuttle Discovery. "We'll do what we can do, look forward to hearing from you in 30 minutes."

NASA originally said the storm blocked communications with a ground station near White Sands, N.M., that normally handles TDRS traffic.

Fool me once, you must be a contractor at one of the facilities. What does this have to do with SNL? Maybe perspectives shared in the Sun could make a good skit for the show, if anyone really cared what anyone of us thought. Lighten up.
