I just can not believe that CBS decided to Cancel Moonlight over The Ex List. The Ex List does not belong on this time slot between Ghost Whisper and Numbers. Just bring back Moonlight and increase the ratings.

everyone is saying they should not have cancelled moonlight but i think they should have never cancelled close to eome. idk how you axe a show that has 12 million viewers. i tried to watch moonlight but couldnt get into it and I didnt even bother watching the ex list but obviously by the ratings i wasnt the only one.

i'm so glad that i have company in mourning moonlight. a moonlight fan on cbs. com had a great idea. apparently, october 16 is send an ex flowers day. it's being proposed that moonlight fans send flowers to cbs, as in our ex network. even better if they are delivered to nina tassler, the woman who is responsible for the cancellation of moonlight. worth a few bucks, isn't it, to show our continued faithfulness to moonlight. say a few words in the card about how this is in solidarity to our show.

Also if anyone noticed Ratings for ALL shows on CBS were way down then they usually are. Ghost Whisperer got 9.3 million and Numb3rs got 8.1 million. Thats way down for both shows. Apparently a lot less people are watching TV now. My guess still is that CBS will air The Ex List a few more times and if viewership goes down they'll replace it with Flashpoint or Harper's Island. But CBS won't admit that they were wrong to cancel Moonlight. They'll just move on to the next show.

dan, i agree that cbs will never admit that they are idiots for cancelling moonlight. and i also think in the numbers being down for ghost whisperer and numbers we're seeing a backlash for cbs friday night. i, for one, would never watch anything shown in moonlight's time slot. there is a life time ban on that time slot in my house.

I agree that CBS will never admit their error in cancelling Moonlight. With the growth in production of movies, books, and TV shows about vampires, it was very shortsighted of CBS. Some are calling 2008 the "Year of the Vampire" in the entertainment industry. CBS had a jumpstart on the genre, but, decided to go with some show that Nina Tassler was pitched in a conversation over the phone. These were her words in an interview about the fall schedule. And it's not even an original show - just a knockoff of a successful Israeli comedy.
This show is doing so poorly right out of the gate, that there is a promotion to send flowers to an ex on "Ex Day" which is next week. It seems like CBS is already starting the heavy promotion for a lost cause. It's a pity that they didn't try harder to promote Moonlight, a show that actually HAD a fanbase. That's what really stinks about the whole thing. And, yes, I'm still pretty riled up about it.
I know that the big nets won't care. Afterall, I am only one lowly viewer from their coveted demographic. But,I have a TV ban for ALL CBS shows for the forseable future. I ain't watchin' squat on The Eye - just because they made me feel like I didn't matter. Most of my viewing leans toward the cable networks, anyway. But I took a chance on CBS last year. I won't make that mistake again.

I'm glad The Ex-List is bombing, maybe next time around they'll think twice before cancelling a great show - like they did with Moonlight. I haven't watched ANYTHING on CBS since then, and don't plan to - even though I'm a Ghost Whisperer fan, I find other ways to watch the episodes I DON'T watch when aired on CBS...

When Moonlight won the People's Choice Award in January for the Best New Drama I was excited, as I thought that would mean a sure renewal for the show. Obviously, the network could care less what the public thinks. I thoroughly enjoyed Moonlight, and was very disappointed when I heard of CBS's decision to cancel it.
Close to Home was also a very good show, and a good fit in the Friday night time slot. I really never understood why it was canceled.
CBS now throws us this unnerving curve called the Ex List. It was poor comedy, extremely base with the shave/wax debate. I found the comment regarding the "10 yr. old" absolutley disgusting. I managed (albeit with much disgust) to sit through the (extremely long) hour, but needless to say, I will not be watching it again, ever!
I will be rummaging through the DVR on Friday's between 9-10, while I wait for Numb3rs to start.
Does CBS have a Common Sense Department we could write to?

Close to Home was cancelled because the ratings were slipping a little in the 2006-2007 season although all of the numbers for Close to Home were higher then Moonlight. CBS thought they could do better with Moonlight. Last December during the strike CBS said that they would renew Moonlight but apparently when they ordered more episodes and the show wasn't doing that great they dumped Moonlight for The Ex List. Ironically the premiere of The Ex List was lower then any of the numbers Moonlight posted. So like I said before, CBS will either cancel The Ex List after 1 more airing or keep the show around for a season and then cancel it in favor of something else.

i have to give kudos to Fox. when one of my favorite shows premiered a few years ago, "Bones," the ratings weren't terrific. did Fox jerk it after a few epidodes the way the geniuses at cbs would have? no, they gave it a chance to grow and develop and has it ever. it's now flourishing. House is another example. originally the ratings were abysmal. fox switched up it's time slot and devoted some real attention to it. it's now a top rated show. cbs has no loyalty to their shows. i can't do anything except make sure that i treat cbs with the same lack of respect they've shown me and their other viewers.

Thats right House, Bones, and 24 also aired there first season with alright numbers and since they were good, FOX gave them a chance to grow. All three are now doing a lot better then they originally did. 24 gets 11-14 million as does House now. Bones gets around 10 million on its own without the help of House. Shows that start out OK, FOX gives a chance to develop.

I liked Close to Home but I loved Moonlight. CBS is turned off in our house during this time slot. Very disapointed in CBS. They just need to get over themselves and admitt they were wrong. Bring back Moonlight and I promise they will see all their Friday night shows sky rocket in viewings.

In addition, with "House" in particular, even before it got its "American Idol" boost and became a huge it, its ratings were trending UP. "Bones" and "24" also finished their first seasons trending UP. "Moonlight" did not. Therefore CBS thought its chances to grow weren't high. There wasn't an iota of statistical evidence to suggest that "Moonlight" was gaining audience traction. If there had been, CBS would not have canceled it.

dan, in at least house's case and maybe bones, that is untrue. house was on the verge of cancellation. i have two words for you as to what saved house: american idol. when they placed it after a.i. it's ratings shot up and once people realized it was a great show and it could "breathe on it's own" it was off and running. i'm 51 and i remember an era when shows weren't given the bum's rush like this. and i could write a book on how inaccurate those neillson ratings are.

Exactly those 3 FOX shows were trending up and are staying that way now and thats why they are still around. Unfortunately Jericho and Moonlight started out strong but eventually posted lower numbers. which sucks because both shwos were great. eydie wrote: dan, in at least house's case and maybe bones, that is untrue. house was on the verge of cancellation. i have two words for you as to what saved house: american idol. when they placed it after a.i. it's ratings shot up and once people realized it was a great show and it could "breathe on it's own" it was off and running. i'm 51 and i remember an era when shows weren't given the bum's rush like this. and i could write a book on how inaccurate those neillson ratings are. Was House really on the verge of cancellation when it first premiered in 2004? Because I thought it performed alright in 2004 and the other new dramas that year (North Shore, Jonny Zero, Point Pleasant, Tru Calling) performed like crap in comparison. I guess FOX had faith that House would end up doing good. Good thing they kept it. I know for a fact that Bones was never in danger of being cancelled. FOX ordered a full season after only 3 airings and also it seems airing after House really helped the show out. Initially Bones only performed with around 7-8 million viewers but FOX had faith in the show and now Bones gets around 9-10 million.

Actually after researching House did get around 6-7 for its first few episodes but keep in mind it aired after Rebel Billionaire which got ike 3 million viewers. So viewership atleast grew when it started out.

Ghost Whisperer's ratings are not down!!! They are exactly the same and slightly overperforming. The show's highest ratings were during the first season 10 million + it even reached 11 million at times.
Numbers - however is down. the Ex-list doesn't belong and Moonlight was not great either.
