Is Seacrest's 'Idol' Job In Jeopardy?

With "American Idol" ratings down this year, could host Ryan Seacrest be worrying about his job security? That appears to be the case, a source close to Seacrest is telling MSNBC.com's The Scoop.

I gave up on A.I. after Ryans cruel send-off of Michael Johns.
I don't care if it was in the script or if he has apologized
to Michael or not. Sorry, but I think the show lost a whole lot
of credibility that night, and perhaps a lot of viewers too.
Ryan Seacrest is a has-been anyway. I've changed my radio station in the car also.

Seacrest has, for all intents and purposes, outlived his "appeal" on the show and his infrequent repartee with Simon Cowell is becoming rather uncomfortable and unfunny. What about Paula Abdul? Talk about someone's time to go!! If the producers are trying to keep a Middle Eastern influence on the show, maybe they should consider bringing on Salman Rushdie as a judge. He basically mirrors the appeal of Abdul. He has entertained millions...and not too favorably!!

I sure hope so I can't stand him he isn't funny or cute and he thinks he is and I hate the way that he interacts with the judges especially Simon. We really do need a new face on the show Ryan has worn out his face for me anyways.

Ryan Seacrest is one of the reasons I watch AI....the show is very predictable...one change I would make is a "Where are the Idols Now" Segment. They experimented last week...but lot's of us folks out here would luv to see if other contestants have followed their dreams. Randy...needs to stop repeating himself...Paul is usually at a loss for words...Simon is usually right on but his pompous..."I don't need this gig" attitude is in your face each week. This years Idols are the most talented beyond a doubt!

Wow .. I am just the opposite. Ryan is the first (on a long list) of reasons I don't watch anymore. It's exhausting to watch him preening around on the stage pretending to be anything but self-involved and plastic.
He comes across as condescending and disingenuous. he has been marketed far beyond his use and talents. he can go away now, get paid out on his contract amd retire to his $12M home. Just PLEASE spare us seeing him anywhere: AI, the Red Carpet or any commercial.
I think they should rotate the host every year like they do the awards shows. MAYBE ... they could use the winner from "Last Comic Standing." Anything would be an improvement.

They have to change the voting. The better singers are always exiting to early. Oh ya, and Seacrest is a big douche.

I love Ryan Seacrest as MC on Idol. He's the best - it wouldn't be the same without him.

It's not the host, it's the commercial after commercial after commercial after, well you get the idea. Cut the commericals!

I dunno man .. Ryan's getting a little too old to turn tricks. He may have to settle for work as the madame and take his precentage off the top (even though he's clearly a bottom). I hear Gov. Spitzer from NY is looking for a new "discreet" connection.

It all has to do with the contestants. Personally, I like R. Seacrest's part in Idol.

I'd vote for Kat Deely to be the new host. They ought to dump randy and paula while they're at it. Simon is the only honest judge.

I don't mind Ryan (too much), but the repartee with Simon is old. I don't like this season's viewers live questions with the contestants/judges. LAME!! I still enjoy the show very much, its one of the few shows that I can watch with my children.

You don't like Randy? He is a great producer! HMM.

I think this show is more about the talent and not the hosts. I agree the hosts are an imporant part but without the contestants, we wouldn't have another season of AI. I think that everyone who is hating on Paula, or Ryan, or Simon would find somethign wrong with anyone else they picked to fill their place.

There are a lot of problems with American Idol, but Ryan Seacrest is not very major problem, let alone the worst. From what I'm reading here, I think people are just tired of the same old stuff every year and Ryan has become the target of this simply because of the article. To be honest, AI jumped the shark several seasons ago, but I never watched past the auditions anyway. If I wanted to see a music performance, I'd go to a concert, but I'm more interested in listening to music, the rest is boring

I was just goofing. AI is my favorite show and wouldn't be the same without the current line-up of host/judges. I wouldn't mind letting ryan judge too.
