What's on? Not much

Television haters, rejoice! Thousands of writers who belong to the Writers Guild of America have stopped putting words in the mouths of everyone from Jon Stewart to coach Taylor of the Dillon Panthers.

Bring back reruns of Gunsmoke, Twilight Zone, JAG, Cosby Show, Monk, Cheers, Sherlock Holmes, etc. and put them in prime time on the networks...or even on the cable channels. Shows from when writers actually could pen
intelligent dialog. They will be better and much more enjoyable than the mindless pap with laugh tracks that pollute the airways today. Writers on strike? Who will notice?

The last time there was a strike I had about 50 channels to choose from. Today I have over 100, including many like BBA America and Turner Classic Movies that do not relay on US TV writers for content.

I also have access to a large number of classic TV shows via my personal DVD library and my local video rental outlet.

let 'em strike, it will have almost zero impact on my life.

Well said. With the exception of sports or Turner Classic I've pretty much stopped watching television of any kind. Thank God for DVD's and books.

I think it's incredibly ridiculous that the only thing anyone cares about is whether or not it will ruin their TV-watching experience. What about the issues at hand?

I may think Hollywood is pretty shallow, but the entertainment industry is the third largest employer in LA and many of those people are now out of work. Why? Because the studios don't want to give away a cut of their internet profits.

So, do you think the writers should get their residuals from episodes that are viewed online? Why or why not?
