Besides, I personally can't understand why a woman would fall in love with a man anyway. I can be best friends with a guy, but I guess I'm just wired different, because falling in love and all that jazz is just too much for me to comprehend. With a woman though, its natural to me.

Society and people are evolving. This really is human social evolution at work. When women became idependent of men and able to support themselves and gained political power, women no longer needed men. And traditional marriage is predicated on women needing men to raise children.

Women have always been pre-disposed to being closer with other women, because two women work on a different emotional level than a man and a woman. That's why women share their deepest feelings with other women, even when they are married.

And now that women can conceive children without men, and raise children without men, it's only natural that women begin to gravitate toward spending time with other women in relationships where they combine their deepest emotional ties with their sexual lives. We lesbians have always known this.

These relationships more closely mimic other communal animals in nature. There are many women raising children together, and few males. The males are only needed to spread the seed for the next generation, and then go off and battle one another the rest of the time keeping their violent numbers low.

Now that men are no longer even needed to protect women from other men, we don't even need men for that purpose. And science is working on being able to combine two eggs and conceive children sans sperm.

On the opposite side of the coin, men would rather hang out with other men in loose relationships, and only end up in monogamous marriages because of the need to pass on their genetic material. But now that men are openly raising kids together, do men really meen a woman around? Not hardly.

The truth is that men and women don't really like or understand one another, except for the purpose of having sex. And sex is such a small part of human lives, that it makes absolutely no sense for a man and a woman to live together in a pairing.

That's what these traditional marriage adherents know too. they know that when men and women have the choice of pairing up with likes or opposites, most will eventually choose likes with a few floating back and forth. it's a strange new world for them, especially since it goes against their dogma. But you can't fight evolution sill homophobes. It's the future of humankind.

There will always be heterosexual pairings, but they will be the minority. The future is lesbian moms, and bisexual couples in 'open' relationships. And that is what scares the bejeezus out of these homophobes, because the future always scares them.

Interesting post, Lillith. I'm trying to think of a historical precedent, and I can't really come up with one. We seem to be entering a social situation that has never occurred before, particularly in an advanced civilization, in which women are rapidly attaining equal status to men and same-sex relationships are also gaining acceptance. Ancient Greece seems to be the closest parallel, but women were hardly equal in that society. So our situation has the potential to be very different from that.

This could certainly alter the very fabric of society (as the religulous reich fears), but I think that's good thing. It's hard to say exactly what form it will take, but any social structure based on "Equality and Justice for All" can only be right, in my opinion.

As the world's resources dwindle because of human overpopulation, the need for procreation will no longer be a priority, hence the need for an excuse for "marriage for procreation" will be rather obsolete. Also, in the necessity for humans to survive with limited resources, humans will have to create a much more tolerant society based on science of survival rather than pure dogma and traditional beliefs that has lasted for the past 2 millenia. Humans will have to learn to coexist or kill each other for surviva reasons. The advent of modern technology that makes the ntire world one small comunity will most likely choose peaceful coexistence instead of a war that has the potential to annihilate a large portion of the humankind. We have learned from WWII what intolerance and prejudice can do, so I hope that we do not repeat the same but in a much larger proportion for these modern times.

I would imagine that some of them are lesbians who've recently realized as much, and others are bisexuals who find relationships with women to be more fulfilling/less hassle/otherwise superior than relationships with men.

This society is filled with gender norms and many of them have a negative effect on women in relationships with men. Even if you're on your guard to preserve an egalitarian relationship, it creeps in, because not only is she steeped in it from childhood, he is too. And that's not even touching the number of sexist, careless or downright lazy men who don't even TRY to be fair to a girlfriend.

With another woman, however, there are no set roles to fall into, so you end up creating roles that work for both of you, and she hasn't been the slightest bit socialized by society into expecting that you'll take care of all the boring housecleaning work once you get tired of nagging with no results.

Also, less risk of rape, domestic abuse, or random unthinking casual sexism or double standards from a girlfriend than from a boyfriend.

we have too many lesbians out there today which is the major problem. more and more women just want to be with their own sex. they are a bunch of losers anyway. i hope they all get a disease and die from it.

there are a lot of us good straight men out there that are feeling very bad because we cannot seem to meet the right straight woman today, especially when we are not into playing games like most of these other women do. now the problem is that there are so many lesbians out there and they just want women to be with. these women to me are the lowest form of garbage that were put on this earth by mistake, which is now a problem for men like us that are looking to meet a woman out there. where can good men like us go to meet decent women today?

Men marrying lesbians is not as uncommon as one might think. Look at Burt Reynolds and Lou Diamond Phillips.

I know 2 men who married women, and had kids with them, not knowing that they were lesbians.(Both couples divorced).

I felt particularly bad for my next door neighbor's oldest son. He married a lesbian, had 2 kids with her and divorced. She moved into a house with her girlfriend, also divorced from a man, and with a kid. They both have government jobs, and both recieve alimony and child support from their ex-husbands. Between the alimony, and child support payments for his 2 kids, my neighbor had to move back in with his parents, while the 2 lesbians are living the good life on their ex-husbands' money and government salaries.

So you picked the wrong women. Doesnt mean you should blame all lesbians for your problems. Most of us are nice, well adjusted people who abhor cheating as much as you do.

I do hope you find a good woman who doesnt treat you like dirt. Every decent person deserves another decent person. But dont blame one group of people for a couple of indecent ones. I am happily committed and i plan to remain that way myself. My sexuality has nothing to do with my character, please dont connect the two because you are bitter.

So you want to find a good woman right? Well for starters you might not want to call women garbage that were put here by mistake because you don't agree with their lifestyle for starters.

i just feel very hurt and bitter that this happened to me. i am a very sensitive man, and when i see other men out there that are very lucky that have a family, i break down and cry a lot, because i always wanted a family of my own. when i was married, i was very committed and very happy. being alone sucks for a man. women on the other hand, are the much stronger sex, and can deal with it. i just hope that i could meet the right one, for me it would be like winning the lottery.
