i unfortunately agree with you.
personally i thought lil david's coronation song was beyond horrible. it drew out all kinds of notes that didn't need it. and it was boring as anything.
now this isn't to say cook's was great. but at least his had something to it. it had a little excitement. lil david just about put me out with his song.
im not a clay fan but he has lil david beat on the elton song. period. archie didn't create that epic feeling that clay did when he sang the song.
archie's imagine was actually worse than i remember. a few notes of his voice breaking. extra wavering in the voice.
I was happy that cook went with a new song. i understand picking a classic, but its nice to hear something new. that being said....his collective soul song was nice, but he should've picked something exciting, something he could change up, belt out.
oh well. archuleta will win and cook will be allowed to make his own record. archuleta won't really have much of a career and will fade away.

I've read your reviews all year and it is obvious you're not an Archuleta. You would find a way to put him down even if he did sing the phone book. Like most critics (the non-music ones anyway) you've pushed Cook into the lead and even after tonight I still think he will win. But I think, based on tonight, Archie should be the winner. I will have to say "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" was my favorite David Cook performance all year. Oh yea, and "Imagine", while close to Archie's earlier performance, did, in my opinion, have some differences.

I agree that Archuleta will probably win, based on performances tonight but I'm hoping that Cook's loyal fan base will push him through. Ultimately, it's about which singer makes great records after American Idol. I say that singer will be David Cook.

please...it's pretty obvious where u coming from! Give credit where it's due. Let face it...David slayed the Goliath (cook) tonight. Period. The ridiculous notion that Cook decided to lose and "willing to let David win" is utter rubbish. At this point in time before the result..be a gracious loser.

In what ridiculous world was Cook the Goliath? Just because Archuleta's littler? Archuleta's been the favorite since this season began and he's going to win. He's been the Goliath the whole time.

I have liked both David's all season. I'm voting for David Archuleta because I want him to win, he deserves it. I'm sure David Cook will also get a big record deal. I wish both of them lots of luck.I really believe David Archuleta will be the next American Idol.

From the beginning I thought and hoped David Archuleta would win because he's simply outclassed the field since Day One. No one can touch him on his vocals. He's been the best all season and was, by far, the best tonight. I've never voted for AI before but I've been voting for David A. for the last 2 hours.

cook rocks archulets sucks he sounds the same every song he sing its a joke atleast cook gets people off there seats and makes it fun not depressing

David Cook. He has been consistently excellent all season long. Stage presence, sex appeal..all around very good.And tonight, I liked how he mixed all three of his songs up. David A. has a good voice, but he does not seem to have the versatility needed to be a star. Disney would like him, I am sure.

Another yawn performance from David A. Three boring drippy renditions yet again. The only time he attempted to sing something different this year was when he forgot the words. Of course he will win. He has every teenage girl in the country voting for him. Fortunately, David C will be the one who makes the better record, and will in my opinion stick around for longer. Props also to David C for singing a new song.

poor archie does not have as much as a personality. he sings the same uninspired banal melody week after week. david cook has always been better, but based on tonight, if archie won, i'd have to say that it does not indicate the same type of competition rigging since he was the "presumtive idol winner" all the way from top 24. you nailed it daniel!! right on!!

Let's have Josh Groban do a duet with the Monchichi and we'll see who can really sing and perform.
Archuleta is a poor man's Groban.
Also, could judges have been any more biased tonight as to who they want to win? And the kicker...Ruben Studdard closing the show. That says it in a nutshell.

At the end, during the recap of tonight listen to David A. He goes sharp on a note rewind and listen to the performance and it wasn't there he was spot on. Did someone use a pitch shifter for the replay?

This has been a dispiriting season of "American Idol." Sure, the show's been rigged from time to time since the very first season, but never before have they been so blatant about it. Archuleta was selected as the winner around Christmastime, before we heard any of these kids. Unlike some years, the producers did not change their minds partway through, making this round dreadily predictable.

In seven years, I've never watched an AI finale with less vocal talent on display, nor have we had two finalists with less chance of making a hit record. David Cook may remind some of you of Bo Bice or Chris Daughtry, but he's not in their league. David Archuleta is a musical sociopath who connects with real human emotion about as often as Paula says something coherent.

And yet I'm still watching the damned show, so who's the bigger fool?

I gotta tell ya that Clay Akins version is WAY WAY WAY cheezy, if that stirs something in you then you've got a fatal case of Manilowitis! Archuletta's voice is the most pure and moving I've heard since the flawless vocals of Karen Carpenter - the kind of vocal quality that only comes around every few decades. I'll take Archie's "shaken" over Cook's "stir" any day!

I haven't posted here for a few weeks. I do not think David Cook gave 3 good performances. His first was excellent, his second was pretty good, and his third was mediocre, and a stupid song choice. He definitely needed to perform Hello or Billie Jean again if he wanted a chance.

I can't wait for David Archuleta's album produced by Randy, "Red Hot Molten Phone Book" LOL! David A has been one of my picks from the beginning, and Carly was the only one who challenged him at number 1 on my list. David C is my number 3 for the season.

Season one was the last time that my favorite of the final 2 lost, and I do not see it happening this time. I had a very hard time getting through on David A's line, and only got in 52 votes. The only other finalist that I ever got through fewer votes on the final night for was Taylor, and he won.

I gotta tell ya I was in the house tonight, as a HUGE fan of Dave Cook - he's gonna have a major career... but, when you hear that kid sing live THEN you get it... I even went home and listened on a my expensive high-end surround sound system, just not the same ... in the theatre tonight (and I HATE HATE HATE to admitt it) David Archuletta was absolutely amazing... his voice just sails, no, SOARS... he was ON FIRE... and Simon was dead on (at least in the theatre) the kid out sang Cook on every song... BY A MILE... it was one of the most amazing nights I've ever had... and I went in there not only LOVING Dave Cook but agreeing with everyone else who said that "Archie" is a teen pop wanna be... I was wrong. David Archuletta is the winner by a knockout!!!

I think that the true winner should be David Cook. He has originality, great voice, takes on harder songs and turns in outstanding performances. I think he is a true star. He is very diverse in his music and what he can sing, not everyone can do a good u2 song.
