Maybe the people of Hawaii and the parents of public school children should use this kind of organization to try to reverse what this administration is doing to the public school system. The Administration, the School Board and the union have set back the education of Hawaii's children for generations. We spend the most per child and they still receive the poorest education. We have to rely on winning books for them??????????

The problem with the loss of services is that we don't have the money to pay for them. The governor was not willing to raise taxes and most of the grumblers who are making comments on the newspapers' online sites don't want to pay higher taxes.

No new taxes mean a readuction in services. What doesn't the public understand about this?

Shows how much Hawaii people care as a group. Sometimes. If they can get this involved with a every election, that would make a huge difference.

Well Hula Girl, the idea is to divert money from services that are not needed or as important as education. We have a legislature and governor who continue to "espouse" how important education is to our keiki and then don't back it up with action...and in fact make it worse.

Governor's State of the State address from 2006. http://hawaii.gov/gov/leg/2006/2006%20SOS.pdf

I believe each Govenor has stated that education is a priority. And probably every future Governor will say the same. However, the kids get shortchanged through budget cuts, non-certificated teachers, and teaching to the standards of No Child Left Behind.

Daily Horoscope for January 6

Capricorn

Don't let anyone stand in the way of your progress and don't reveal personal secrets. You could very easily become run down at the moment. An empty promise could leave you feeling sad. If you're working today, there could be some problems: stick to your own work and make sure that someone doesn't try to take credit for your efforts.
